The Nervous Wreckords

The Nervous Wreckords features Brian Karscig/Anthony Saffery with Matthew Gorney (keyboards), Mark Maigaard, Ray Suen, Mark Stoermer, Steve Smith, Andy Ridley, Shaun Cornell, and Lindsay Matheson. Together, this rock band based in San Diego possesses an exceptional sound. Despite the quality of the music produced, the band’s beginning is an interesting one to say the least. In an attempt to try something different, Brian Karscig, former Louis XIV member, put together The Nervous Wreckords. After touring the world with Louis XIV, Brian Karscig sought a creative break. In 2008 after three albums, four EP’s, and five years of extensive international touring with Louis XIV, Brian Karscig fortuitously met Anthony Saffery (producer and member of UK band Cornershop). After listening to files of the solo work Brian had been writing in between preparations for a new Louis XIV album, Saffery was deeply intrigued. By July 2009, the duo had written six or seven tracks together, which they finished recording at Camp St. Studios (Lemonheads, Pixies, Radiohead, etc.) as the “Nailbighter” EP. In September 2009, months before the release of its debut EP “Nailbighter”, The Nervous Wreckords performed their second show as an opening act for The Killers on a mini US tour after only three weeks of nonstop rehearsal. It’s hard not to perceive Brian Karscig’s natural musical abilities after looking at the history of his musical career; looks like all those piano lessons and formal music educational training throughout his childhood paid off. I wish I could tell you what to expect next but with Karscig’s artistic genes, who knows what The Nervous Wreckords will come out with next.
