PINK FLOYD - “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun"Inserita come seconda canzone dell’album “A Saucerful of Secrets " (1968) , “Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" è un capolavoro della musica cosmica dei Pink Floyd”. Scritta da Roger Waters è la sola canzone che caratterizza tutti i 5 membri del gruppo. Il titolo della canzone pare essere stato preso da un libro di William S.Burroughs e secondo la dichiarazione di Waters le strofe sono prese da un libro cinese di poesie del tardo periodo T’ang (X° secolo). Girovagando in internet trovo la seguente descrizione che riporto per intera per non perderne il fascino: “E’ un pallido rifacimento in chiave orientale-onirica degli incubi astronautici di Barrett; la suggestione e` comunque notevole, perche' il suono si insinua dolcissimo, sospinto da una percussione frenetica e assordante, da una litania monotona bisbigliata sotto le note ossessive del basso.” La canzone è guidata dalle percussioni di Mason, la voce è di Waters e rappresenta un viaggio spaziale per mezzo di un’astronave che, da un’intervista concessa da Waters, veniamo a sapere si tratta di un comandante che dopo aver sorvolato dei paesaggi rurali, decide improvvisamente di far "Rotta verso il Cuore del Sole". Come per molte canzoni dei Pink Floyd, il testo ha poca importanza, fra l’altro le parole sono sussurrate al microfono, quello che conta è la melodia ipnotica orientaleggiante che prevale nel brano. La canzone è in progressiva intensificazione, raggiunge un culmine per poi lentamente attenuarsi. Di seguito canzone e testo:Buon ascolto.
