Cleaning reticle Steiner Fero D12 8x30 BW

I bought My binoculars Steiner Fero D12 at the end of year 2011 on the ebay. The seller had sold him to me, as if in good condition, but as soon as I have had in my hands I realized that the reticle had a line of separation(after open I see one little wire of glue) and dots very visible if you put the image in focus infinity. The lenses had a few scratches and even the internal prisms were a little misty. After 6 months of information, optical schemes Steiner, Steiner Patents, video etc. .. I understand how I should proceed to open the binoculars, hoping not to do too much damage to the chassis of Bayer Makrolon.Over one hour of work, with open tools, I have created a tendinitis to my right arm.I am very pleased with the final result. The Steiner binoculars FERO D12 used German Army has never had a very good judgment, but I rather think that the central sharpness is very good. Only problem , for me , is the optical design of the eyepiece of this old (and first) project Steiner FERO D12 8x30. The prisms are beautiful and very large, with a design different from many other binoculars ...max large at one face and minor dimension at the opposite face. Final result: Very Good !! And Little damage of Makrolon , and perfect Collimation without problems.I'll use for trips to the sea and mountains.Marco Bensi - MMXII
