When the Super Bowl and all that comes with it invaded Indianapolis two years ago, we wondered exactly how the first-time host would fare in putting together one of this country's biggest events. In the end, most of my media buddies and I believed that Indy built a wonderful week (with mild weather that was much warmer than it had been the February before while we were in Dallas), and we speculated how soon the city would be granted its second Super Bowl bid. ANYWAY, the city has decided it wants another opportunity, and as the Indianapolis Star reports, the city will bid on Super Bowl LII for 2018. Reportedly, the announcement for its willingness to host again will be made Friday morning and will include Colts owner Jim Irsay and former center Jeff Saturday (not to mention the greatest mayor of all time, Greg Ballard). "We know how to do these things, with Final Fours and Indianapolis 500s and all that, and I think the Super Bowl was a great success, " Ballard said a few weeks after the Giants beat the Patriots. "I think we really embraced the game and embraced the entire concept of the Super Bowl, with so many people coming together, different committees all over for four years. I think it was a big hit." In May, the NFL announced that Super Bowl L would be held in San Francisco and that Super Bowl LI would be in Houston.
