Dopo aver portato al cinema la vita del controverso rapper Notorious B.I.G., stavolta Tillman ha deciso di confrontarsi con la leggenda del jazzista Miles Davis. Il film, intitolato provvisoriamente Miles, è basato sul romanzo Dark Magus: The Jekyll and Hyde Life of Miles Davis firmato dal figlio di Davis, Gregory Davis. Gregory farà da consulente per il film che sarà prodotto da Nick Davis Raynes e Ged Dickersin. Isaac Fergusson ha già firmato la prima bozza dello script, che ora necessita di una serie di modifiche. "La nostra intenzione è realizzare un film che attragga il pubblico, in primis i fans di Miles Davis che sono sparsi in tutto il mondo, anche coloro che non conoscono a fondo la vita del musicista.In più vogliamo appassionare alla sua musica anche i più giovani. Ci ispireremo a biopic musicali come Quando l'amore brucia l'anima - Walk the Line o Ray" ha spiegato Nick Davis Raynes. Miles Davis, uno dei più grandi musicisti jazz di tutti i tempi, ha influenzato profondamente la musica del XX° secolo. Nel corso di una carriera lunga cinquant'anni Davis ha collaborato con Charlie Parker, John Coltrane e Thelonious Monk e ha sperimentato da pioniere vari tipi di jazz inclusi il bebop, il cool jazz e il jazz-rock fusion. "In una carriera lunghissima da musicista, Miles è riuscito a trascendere il tempo, lo spazio e la razza" ha concluso il produttore, che ha unito le proprie forze al figlio di Davis, il quale sostiene la scelta di Tillman come regista del progetto e dichiara: "Mi fido di George Tillman e Nick Raynes racconterà la vera storia di mio padre senza indorare la pillola. Mio padre è stato un uomo incredibile che credeva nel sogno americano. So che questo film farà giustizia alla sua memoria". Fonte :
