BRAXTON HOUSE NEWS

New Braxton House Records is proud to announce the release of Anthony Braxton's first stand­alone concert DVD recording, Duo (Amherst) 2010, a performance with cornetist/composer Taylor Ho Bynum. The DVD (also available as an audio-only download) will become available to TCF members on June 4th (the release date for the general public is August 13th), and members will receive a 30% discount. Recorded on September 22, 2010 at UMass Amherst's Bezanson Recital Hall, the concert film intimately documents the compositional structures, improvisational vocabulary, extended techniques, and orchestral instrumental range of these extraordinary artists. This DVD release offers a preview of changes coming to the Tri-Centric membership model and the focus of New Braxton House Records. As of September 1st, rather than offering download-only releases of primarily archival concert material, New Braxton House will be actively producing new projects that will be released in both physical and digital formats. Monthly members will soon be receiving an email describing the changes in detail.

On June 1st, we will be releasing two albums of Falling River Music (one will be a member free download, the other will be a la carte), recorded in 2007 and performed by Anthony, Erica Dicker (violin), Katie Young (bassoon), Sally Norris (piano). [Tri-Centric Orchestra New Commissioning Program performance]
On April 21st at Roulette, the Tri-Centric Orchestra premiered compositions by Nicole Mitchell, Jason Kao Hwang, and Kamala Sankaram (with Anthony himself watching from the second floor balcony). The music was beautiful and full of risk-taking, ambitious and uncompromising moments for which this program was designed. We will be following up with more commissions this fall.
