LUCI D’ARTISTA 2010 The opening from the Villa Comunale on Friday 5th of November 2010. Saturday 4th December at 18h, switching on of the Christmas tree, Portanova Square. Sunday 5th December at 18h, switching on of Santa’s Sleigh, Caduti di Brescia Square Inaugurated the 2010 edition of “Luci d’artista”, the spectacular exposition of luminous artworks throughout Salerno city. Masterpieces of light and colour will enchant visitors from the 5th of November till mid-January from the Villa Comunale to Flavio Gioia square, from Portanova up to the eastern part of the town. The opening ceremony took place at 5 p.m. in the Villa Comunale of Salerno. The Mayor, Vincenzo De Luca, has symbolically turned on the magic garden of light, created in one of the most beautiful city corners. Afterwards, he started the walking tour along the luminous artworks in the Old Town with stops at the main points. Then the tour, guided by the Mayor, moved along to the artworks in the east city. Two special guests has delighted the event: Marisa Laurito, leading actress in “Aggiungi un posto a tavola” at Verdi Theatre, and Peppe Barra, with a surprise show about light theme. The main theme of this edition is “Stars, Planets and enchanted garden”; the light that overcomes the darkness of fear and disenchantment, relational worlds filled with a new cosmic harmony expressed trough mythological figures, shining flowers, crystal waterfalls, original lines. It’s a strong ecological, artistic, social and ethical message, the one chosen for “Luci d’Artista 2010” by the Municipality of Salerno aiming to increase further on the appeal of a city filled with art, history, culture, craft and enogastronomy. And to show that Salerno is a beautiful, safe, clean and cosy city. From Saturday 4th December, the festive and joyful atmosphere is increased by the switching on of the majestic Christmas tree in Portanova Square (18.00h) and by the start of the eventful “Natale in Fiera” (Christmas Fair). Sunday 5th December at 18h, Santa’s Sleigh will be switched on in Caduti di Brescia Square. Visitors, that in the past edition have reached the million and half, will benefit from special promotional packages for hotel accommodation, shopping, enogastronomy. Luci d’Artista is a perfect occasion to discover or rediscover Salerno and appreciate its hospitality. From the 5th of November, events and side events with illustrious testimonial will multiply.
