Senza averne ricevuto nessuno fino ad ora, Drake č stato nominato in 13 categorie riferite alla nuova edizione degli American Music Awards. Solo per fare qualche esempio, il suo nome compare nell'elenco dei candidati ai premi Artist of the Year, Collaboration of the Year (per One Dance, featuring Wizkid & Kyla), Video of the Year (per Work, al fianco di Rihanna), Favorite Male Artist, Favorite Album Rap/Hip-Hop (per Views) e Favorite Song Rap/Hip-Hop (per Hotline Bling). Il rapper e attore canadese ha infranto il precedente record di candidature stabilito dal Michael Jackson, che nel 1984 ne aveva ricevute 11. Quest'anno sono 7 quelle che interessano Rihanna, Adele e Justin Bieber ne vantano 5 a testa, mentre risultano 4 sia per Beyoncé che The Chainsmokers. Fissato al Microsoft Theatre di Los Angeles (California), l'evento sarŕ proposto - anche in diretta sulla statunitense ABC - il 20 novembre.
