Nella serata di ieri, 9 novembre, sono stati assegnati gli MTV EMAs. L’evento - giunto alla ventesima edizione - si è consumato nella città scozzese di Glasgow, UK, e a presentarlo è stata la vulcanica Nicki Minaj. Si sono esibiti U2, Charli XCX, Kiesza, Ariana Grande, e Ed Sheeran. Ozzy Osbourne, il padrino della musica heavy metal (già leader dei Black Sabbath), è stato il destinatario del Global Icon Award.Assente Calvin Harris, che non è potuto intervenire poiché ammalato (pare, febricitante). Il DJ e produttore scozzese si è comunque assicurato il riconoscimento nella categoria Best Electronic, sbaragliando la concorrenza dei colleghi Avicii, David Guetta, Hardwell, e Afrojack. Altri premiati sono stati i Thirty Seconds to Mars, che hanno ritirato il Best Alternative, e i Linkin Park, che si sono imposti per il Best Rock.Best Song è risultata Problem di Ariana Grande (featuring Iggy Azalea). La medesima è stata giudicata Best Female, mentre Best Male è stato valutato Justin Bieber. Il premio Best Video ha interessato Katy Perry, per le immaigni abbinate a Dark Horse (featuring Juicy J). L’artista californiana si è assicurata anche l’award Best Look. Beyoncé ha trionfato nella sezione Best Song With a Message, grazie a Pretty Hurts, mentre quella chiamata Best Hip-Hop è stata conquistata da Nicki Minaj. Le categorie Best New e Best Push hanno riguardato i 5 Seconds of Summer.
