He was the 1st or 2nd bishop of that city, and probably was one of the hermits who dwelt in the hills near Sorrento. His oratory (hours-chapel) became the city's first cathedral (in the 17th c. a large basilica was built there by the Benedictine monks of Monte Cassino).
