« Most women consider comf... | But is Mary's dress the... » |
Like millions of brides before her, Julie Rising Bryan, a Wellesley attorney, went on the hunt for the perfect bridesmaid dresses uk in the lead-up to her big day. But like only a few other brides before her, Bryans journey was chronicled on TV.
Bryan is one of three brides to appear in the series premiere of I Found the Gown, a new TLC show chronicling the bridal quest for red bridesmaid dresses at Vows, a Watertown shop that sells designer gowns at discounted prices. The show premieres on Friday, August 24.
Bryan talked to the TAB about how she ended up on the show, which dress she picked and how brides should approach the dress-picking process.
How did you find out about the show?
I had heard about the show from the woman who runs the venue [Massachusetts Horticultural Society] where I was having my wedding. They were looking for brides who were looking for I dresses. Had been chatting with her about various things, and she knew I was on the hunt for a gown, and she said, hey lets reach out to the show.
What was it like to be on the show?
It was really fun. It was great. I knew about Vows, the store. I wasnt in particular looking for designer gowns but I was really looking for a bargain because I was on a budget.Everybody was really nice, and it was really fun. It made my dress hunt easy, and relatively painless.
Give us some spoilers. What dress did you end up picking?
The first dress that I tried on was the dress I ended up picking. It was a Paloma Blanca. At first I wasnt sure about it, but I liked it, andthe show will show you the whole story, how many dresses I tried on before I went back to the first one.
Are you going to have a watching party?
Im definitely going to watch it with my husband, and my sister might come over. Were not quite sure yet. I told as many people as I could to watch it, so hopefully well have a lot watching.
Any advice for other brides looking for a dress?
I would say the best strategy is to just go in with no preconceived notions. Dont have the perfect dress in mind because youre never going to find the dress you want unless you have it made. I had a couple ideas that I wanted but nothing specific. I never would have picked the dress I ended up getting, I never would have picked it off the rack, but it ended up being a gorgeous dress. Keep an open mind, bring friends. I brought friends, and I brought my husband with me too.
Also, go to Vows! They have a great selection and everyones really nice.
