(ASCA) - Roma, 13 mar - Il grafene, definito il ''materiale del futuro'' per le sue interessanti proprieta' come piattaforma innovativa per applicazioni tecnologiche avanzate in elettronica, energia, tecnologia della comunicazione e per lo sviluppo di materiali compositi, sara' il tema del convegno''Low-dimensional carbon nanostructures: graphene and nanotubes'', organizzato il 18 marzo dall'Accademia dei Lincei, con la Fondazione Guido Donegani, e il Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche. Recentemente, il tema del grafene e' stato selezionato dall'Unione Europea come ''Flagship'' nel programma ''Future Emerging Technologies'', con un finanziamento di un miliardo di euro per i prossimi 10 anni. Queste risorse sono destinate a favorire le iniziative in campo scientifico-applicativo ed a svolgere il ruolo di traino per lo sviluppo di settori industriali ed economici ad alto impatto tecnologico. L'incontro sara' anche un'occasione per la discussione degli aspetti legati alla conduzione della ''Graphene Flagship'', in cui le Istituzioni italiane giocano un ruolo strategico di primo piano. L'incontro scientifico e' stato curato dal comitato organizzatore composto da Maurizio Prato, Antonio Sgamellotti e Luigi Nicolais.
