Il Cairo, 2 lug. - (Adnkronos/Aki/Ign) - Il presidente egiziano Mohammed Morsi ha respinto l'ultimatum di 48 ore rivolto dall'esercito alle forze politiche per superare la crisi, affermando la sua intenzione di proseguire con i suoi piani per la riconciliazione nazionale. In un comunicato la presidenza egiziana ha affermato che la posizione dell'esercito rischia solo di creare confusione nel Paese. Morsi ha quindi contestato ''qualsiasi dichiarazione che possa aumentare le divisioni'' nella societ e ''minacciare la pace sociale'' nel Paese. Il presidente egiziano ha quindi fatto sapere di essere in contatto ''con tutte le forze nazionali per garantire la fiducia nel cambiamento democratico e la tutela della volont popolare''. ''Lo stato egiziano civile e democratico è una delle conquiste più importanti della Rivoluzione del 25 gennaio'', si legge nel comunicato diffuso da Morsi che fa riferimento alla rivolta del 2011 che portò alla deposizione del regime di Hosni Mubarak. ''L'Egitto non permetter assolutamente mai passi indietro in questo senso'', prosegue il testo. La decisione è arrivata questa notte, mentre in piazza continuavano le manifestazioni. Nelle stesse ore il presidente degli Stati Uniti Barack Obama ha telefonato a Morsi per esprimergli le sue preoccupazioni circa l'escalation della crisi e per rivolgergli un invito ad ascoltare le richieste della popolazione. Lo riferiscono fonti della Casa Bianca, precisando che Obama ha chiamato dalla Tanzania, dove si trova nell'ambito del suo tour africano. Nella conversazione telefonica, il presidente Usa ha detto alla sua controparte egiziana che Washington sostiene ''il processo democratico in Egitto e non è a favore di un singolo partito o gruppo''. Secondo quanto reso noto dalla Casa Bianca, Obama ha ''sottolineato che la democrazia va oltre le elezioni. Si tratta di garantire che le voci di tutti gli egiziani vengano ascoltate e rappresentate dal governo, comprese quelle dei molti egiziani che stanno manifestanto nel Paese''. Intanto il governo perde importanti pezzi. Questa mattina il ministro degli Esteri Moahmed Kamel Amr ha presentato le sue dimissioni.
