Nonna è assolutamente consapevole di portare molto bene i suoi anni, ed essendo anche molto vanitosa non perde occasione per far conoscere la sua età in modo che tutti si possano stupire di come in effetti non la dimostri.

Pomeriggio assolato, mamma invita il giardiniere esausto a bere qualcosa per rinfrescarsi un po'. Nonna, come un falco che ha adocchiato la sua preda, senza nemmeno più alcun preambolo esordisce con un "Ma lei lo sa quanti anni ho io? Vediamo se indovina". Mia madre da dietro un angolo, senza essere notata, gli suggerisce l'età con le dita e il ragazzo dichiara "Novanta".
Nonna lo guarda con un espressione stupita, indispettita e molto contrariata, resta in silenzio per un secondo, fa per andarsene e glaciale, voltandosi, lo liquida:
"Si... ma li porto un gran bene!".
