First of all, let’s see what is MKV. MKV is a filename extension for the Matroska(including MKV, MKA, MKS) video format.
Secondly, we provide detailed steps of running MKV video media files on Windows 7:
Step 1: Install
You need to download Easy DVD Player from download center or right here http://www.easy-dvd-player.com/user/download/easydvdplayer.exe. Then install it on your computer and run the app.
Click on the "Open File" button and then choose the MKV file that you want to watch. Drag the file into the window or click "File" on the top left corner to find the video files in your computer.
Then you can enjoy your video now.

AVCHD(Advanced Video Coding High Definition) is a file-based format developed by Sony and Panasonic in 2006. It is a format mainly used for the digital recording and playing High-definition video. Its predecessor is HDV. However, AVCHD obviously has its advantages.
The development history of AVCHD:
In 2006, primarily for use in high definition consumer camcorders.
In 2008, Panasonic released the first professional AVCHD camcorder in autumn
In 2011, include 1080-line 50-frame/s and 60-frame/s modes (AVCHD Progressive),and stereoscopic video (AVCHD 3D)
