FRANCESCO LO CASTRO - musicista compositore

To define a guitarist or in general a musician is always hard work because what you see or what you hear is only part of an ever evolving musical process, just like the top of an iceberg.Sometimes the influences which helped defining someone's style are clear, some other times they are so many that It becomes difficult to even distinguished them. Being a guitarist and a composer means to be interested and exposed in very different types of music and musicians. On one side there are the great instrumentalists who shaped my approach to guitar playing like Miles Davis, Al di Meola, Pat Metheny, Frank Gambale and many countless others. On the other side there are those musicians who attracted me for the way they craft their compositions like Robert Smith of the band "The Cure", Mike Oldfield, C.S.I., Duke Ellington and many others.I always loved improvising and for this reason I got soon attracted to jazz music spending countless hours playing standards. At the same time I feel the need to bring improvisation into different contests rather then just swing or latin based ones. Hence my involvent in electronica or rock oriented projects.Music development is a musical and personal journey and I designed this web site almost like a diary in which to write notes and appointments; trying, with its content, to reflect my experiences, where I have been so far  and where I am going.
