China economy to grow 9.8% in 2011: think tank

Post n°6 pubblicato il 26 Gennaio 2011 da hlqfocviua

BEIJING (AFP) – A Chinese government think tank has forecast the nation's economy will grow around 9.8 percent this year, with inflation likely to come in at 3.7 percent, state media reported Sunday.

Experts at the Chinese Academy of Sciences also predicted that gross domestic product would rev up in the latter part of the year, and would be driven largely by domestic consumption, the official China News Service said.

The consumer price index (CPI), the main gauge of inflation, would likely be highest in the first quarter of the year due to rising commodity prices and salaries, and would then drop for the remainder of 2011, the report added.

China's economy grew 10.3 percent in 2010, marking the fastest annual pace since the onset of the global crisis, and the CPI rose 3.3 percent, exceeding the government's full-year target of three percent as food costs soared.

Unlike other countries struggling to spur growth, Beijing has been trying to slow its economy and stem a flood of liquidity that is fanning inflation and driving up property prices.

The central bank has raised interest rates twice since October, and has also increased the amount of money banks must keep in reserve, in a bid to curb lending.

BUCHI Corporation announces its new F-series line of recirculating chillers, featuring reduced energy consumption and heat emission through full evaporation system integration. The F-series recirculating chillers can be part of a fully integrated evaporation process

New Castle, DE (Vocus/PRWEB) January 25, 2011

BUCHI Corporation, a leading provider of integrated lab-scale evaporation solutions and robust industrial , is proud to announce the launch of an all new line of fivedesigned to work seamlessly with a rotary evaporator and vacuum controller.

The F-series chillers provide the final step to a fully integrated evaporation or distillation process. This new line of , which connect to the rotary evaporator and can be controlled from the evaporation system’s vacuum controller, includes:

> F-100 – an entry level model which offers an attractive alternative to chilling with tap water> F-105 – smart control through vacuum controller with a cooling capacity of 500W at 15ºC for use with a single rotary evaporator> F-108 – smart control through vacuum controller over a range of -10ºC to +25ºC with a cooling capacity of 800W at 15ºC> F-114 – smart control through vacuum controller over a range of -10ºC to +25ºC with a cooling capacity of 1400W at 15ºC> F-125 – a powerful industrial chiller with a cooling capacity of 2500W at 15ºC and an integrated trolley for use with the Rotavapor® R-220 SE industrial rotary evaporator

“Recirculating chillers that are not fully integrated with the entire evaporation system waste a lot of energy and generate heat between the distillation runs because they do not shut off automatically,” remarked Michael Stern, Director of Marketing at BUCHI Corporation. “Buchi’s new F-series chillers actively save energy and reduce heat emissions when integrated with Buchi rotary evaporators and Buchi vacuum controllers“, he added.

In addition to their use with rotary evaporators, these neware well suited for cooling applications with Buchi’s parallel evaporation, solvent extraction, and automated Kjeldahl products.

Barcelona go seven points clear of Real

MADRID (AFP) – Champions Barcelona went seven points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the Spanish first division on Saturday as goals from Pedro Rodriguez, Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta sealed a 3-0 home win over Racing Santander.

Barcelona had lost 3-1 to Real Betis in their midweek Kings Cup match - although they reached the semi-finals 6-3 on aggregate - but got off to the perfect start with Spanish winger Pedro netting his 11th league goal after just 90 seconds on Saturday.

Barcelona then coasted to their 14th consecutive league win and maintained their flawless away record with a ninth win on the road.

Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid are now under pressure to close the gap back to four points when they host Real Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.

"Scoring in the second minute helped us settle and this is an important win," said Barcelona striker David Villa.

"We are delighted and it is important for us to be top. Now we have to wait and see if we are lucky and Real Madrid fail to win (against Real Mallorca)."

Barca went ahead after just 90 seconds against Racing with Messi playing a wall pass with Villa before chipping goalwards for Pedro to chest the ball in from close range.

It was a nightmare start for Racing but the visitors almost equalised with Markus Rosenberg forcing a diving save from Victor Valdes on the quarter hour mark.

Villa, Adriano and captain Carles Puyol all missed good chances before Villa won a penalty on 33 minutes by tricking Brazilian defender Henrique, who is on loan at Racing from Barcelona, with some quick footwork.

Messi converted the spot-kick for his 19th league goal of the season as Barca went in 2-0 at the interval.

The hosts scored again on 56 minutes with Spain star Iniesta watching his deflected shot swerve in.

Valencia moved a point above Villarreal into third with a 90th minute winner from Aritz Aduriz clinching a thrilling 4-3 win over nine-man Malaga.

Malaga had Argentine defender Martin Demichelis sent off on 16 minutes for conceding a penalty, which Juan Mata converted, and centre-back Helder Rosario red-carded in the 65th minute for protesting.

Former Real Madrid man Julio Baptista, signed from Roma in the January transfer window, thought he had helped Malaga secure a point when he made it 3-3 with his first goal for the club on 79 minutes, but Aduriz struck in stoppage time to break their hearts.

Villarreal fall to fourth but can reclaim third with victory over Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Brazilian international forward Luis Fabiano scored a hat-trick as Sevilla cruised to a 4-1 home win over Levante to boost their hopes of a top-four finish and bolster confidence ahead of Wednesday's Kings Cup semi-final against Real Madrid.

"We will do everything we can to get a good result to take to Madrid (for the second leg)," said Sevilla coach Gregorio Manzano.

"We have to carry on like this and we have to keep up the defensive intensity and defend well because, with the firepower we have, we are sure to be successful."

It capped a fine week for Sevilla, who defeated Villarreal in midweek to reach the semi-finals of the Kings Cup, although they are still ten points off the top four.

Fabiano headed the opener on 27 minutes after a cross from Spanish international winger Jesus Navas, back from injury, before French defender Julien Escude headed in a corner in the 38th minute.

Levante conceded a penalty four minutes later when Javi Venta fouled Fernando Navarro and Fabiano smashed an unstoppable spot-kick into the bottom corner and completed his hat-trick on 67 minutes with a fine strike from just outside the penalty area.

AUSTIN, Ind. – Authorities say a woman and her three children found dead in a partially burned home in southern Indiana had all been shot in the head.

Two miners survive N.Z. blast, no contact with others

Post n°2 pubblicato il 22 Novembre 2010 da hlqfocviua

WELLINGTON (AFP) – Two miners survived an explosion at a New Zealand mine Friday but there has been no contact with others underground since the blast occurred, the mining company's chief executive said.

Pike River Coal chief executive Peter Whittall denied reports a body had been removed from the South Island mine.

"I've not had any reports of that at all," he told TV3. "We've had two miners who've walked out of the mine and they're currently being spoken to and treated on the surface.

"We've had no communication with anyone else underground at this stage."

Police said there were reports of an explosion at the Pike River coal mine, on the South Island's rugged west coast, at about 4.30pm (0330GMT).

Pike River Coal's Wellington office said they were still working out what had happened.

"We are still trying to determine what has actually happened down there. All our senior management are involved in trying to find out what's happened and when we know what's happened we'll be able to release a statement and update," a company official told AFP.

Kokshoorn said that police, rescue helicopters and ambulances were rushing to the scene of the blast.

"We're just keeping our fingers crossed but it's not good," he said.
