Add to My Contacts Block User Best Answer - Chosen by VotersThe best estimates are that we would have to reduce carbon dioxide emissions world wide to less than one tenth of what they are today if we are to have any chance of stopping Global Warming.We would have to shut down all of the economies of the world to do that. We would create poverty and misery world wide if we were to do something like that.The better solution is to mitigate the effects of Global Warming.The sea levels will rise. Fortunately we can use dike systems similar to those in Holland to protect coastal areas from flooding.Hurricanes will become stronger and more frequent. We need to help the affected countries upgrade their disaster preparedness programs for hurricanes.Droughts will become more frequent. We need to help the affected countries with supplemental water supplies and desalination plants.We cannot stop Global Warming by any means that are acceptable in a civilized society, however we can mitigate the effects of Global Warming at reasonable cost if we start now.2 years ago 56% 5 Votes
