Currently the primary source of war and terrorism is from Radical Islam in the Middle East.

During the administration of President Carter I was part of the Egypt Project.

The Egypt Project was designed to be a sort of Marshall Plan for the Middle East to build up the economies of the Middle East, reduce the poverty and thereby reduce the amount of terrorism from the middle east.

Essentially we thought that terrorism and war was caused by poverty. We thought that if we eliminated the poverty we would eliminate the terrorism and war.

The Egypt project was shut down because of opposition from Muslim Clerics.

The Muslim clerics were afraid tha we were gaining too much influence in Muslim cultures.

I suspect that if we had continued the Egypt project and achieved our goal of eliminating poverty in the Middle East you would not have the terrorism and the wars in the Middle East that you have today.

It appears to me that you will have to drastically reduce or eliminate the influence of the Muslim clerics if you are going to stop the wars and terrorism that we see in the middle east today.
