In order to stop Global Warming we need to reduce carbon dioxide emissions world wide to less than one tenth of what they are today.

To accomplish that we would have to shut down all of the economies of the world.

We would need to bn the use of all automobiles, motorscooters, motorcycles, buses, trucks, trains, planes and shipping.

Next we would need to shut down all manufacturing, steel making and cement making.

Next we would need to ban the heating and air conditioning of all homes, offices and factories.

Next we would need to ban the cooking of all food and the heating of all water for washing ans bathing.

We would need to learn to bathe in cold water.

Next we woul need to shut down the genration of all electricity by the use of fossil fuels.

We would need the cooperation of all countries world wide.

This past week I had the opportunity to meet with a group of officials from The People's Republic of China and a group of officials and businesspeople from the United States.

One of the officials from the United States brought up the issue of Global Warming and the need for The People's republic of China to reduce it carbon dioxide emissions.

The officials from The People's Republic of China were very offended and stated very clearly that they would not reduce their carbon dioxide emissions and in fact would be increasing them by a substantial amount because they need to grow their economy.

The Peple's Republic alone emits enough carbon dioxide to cause Global Warming even if you were to manage to get every other country on this planet to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions to zero.

Essentially we cannot stop Global Warming, it is a fact of our modern existence.

Fortunately we can mitigate the effects of Global Warming.

The sea levels will rise. We need to help the affected countries with dike systems similar to those in Holland to hold back the sea.

Hurricanes will become stronger and more frequent. We need to help the affected countries upgrade their disaster preparedness systems for hurricanes.

There will be more droughts. We need to help the affected countries with supplemental water supplies and desalination plants.

We cannot stop Global Warming but we can mitigate the effects of Global Warming at reasonable cost if we start now.
