Purchasing a Greenhouse Temperature Monitoring System

Post n°3 pubblicato il 17 Maggio 2013 da giouhou

Monitoring for temperature extremes, both high and low, in greenhouses is a requirement nearly every greenhouse operator struggles with. Each spring as greenhouses are started up again and there are still frost and freeze warnings each night countless greenhouse growers lose sleep tossing and turning worrying about their inventory. A temperature monitoring system for your greenhouse is always a good investment, if for nothing else just for the peace of mind. There are different methods of receiving an alert that your greenhouse has gone into an alarm condition, smaller greenhouse owners or even hobbyist often simply want a "local" notification, I.e a chime which sounds when a temperature alarm is recognized. Industrial or commercial operators often want or even require phone or email notification alerts and some even require data logging for their own records. For a basic local, wireless temperature monitoring system I would recommend the Temperature Alert Kit it is wireless and expandable, has an excellent wireless range and the chime receiver has what is called a "relay out" built in. These outputs are a standard in the alarm industry and would allow end users to do things such as activate external devices or even trigger an alarm dialer for voice call outs. The cons to this system are that it is very basic in that you only receive an alarm if the temperature goes high or low, there is no real time temperature monitoring and once the system goes into alarm if you miss the initial notification it will not alert you again. At the other end of the scale Sensaphone has come out with their new Wireless Sensor Gateway (WSG-30) system. This system can monitor up to 30 different sensors (temperature, humidity etc. available) and the wireless sensors operate as a "mesh" network meaning each sensor is capable of receiving and repeating other wireless sensors signals. The system does data logging and alerts users via email or text message. In addition the Temperature Monitoring has its own web page which users can access remotely over the internet to view real time conditions as well as historical trends from the data logging feature.

Server Monitoring System

Post n°2 pubblicato il 17 Maggio 2013 da giouhou

There are two main reasons for introducing the server monitoring process into practice. The first one is to minimize the amount of servers` and other network devices` downtimes, which directly affects on company`s financial state. The second one is to increase the quality of service that company provides to its customers.A monitoring program significantly increases the datacenter`s productivity. The constant monitoring of important network devices` parameters guarantees that the failure will be detected and repaired much quicker, even before it is noticed by the customers or any user from the outside. Often, the polling results database (that has been collected during the exact amount of time by the program) allows the system administrator to analyze and detect the potential problems and bottlenecks that might take place in the network devices in the future, before they eventually stop operating. Furthermore, some problems could be removed by the server monitoring system automatically by restarting particular services or hosts without an IT manager`s involvement. But if the failure is too serious and needs to be repaired by the technical staff, the gathered data makes their work much easier and decrease the amount of time that is required for the shutdown fix. In any case, even minor failure or interruption in the service delivery to the customers can lead to the greatest financial losses and users` complains. That is why, in spite of the fact that the network monitoring software installing can be rather time consuming, such the program is necessary for any datacenter. Of course, all customers want to receive high-quality and regular service, and they do not care about technical problems that the host provider can have. The server monitoring program helps to minimize the amount of failures and downtimes, and thus the company saves its customers` incomes. The more stable and better the service is, the lower probability of losing clients is. In addition, with the Server Monitoring software the system administrators do not need to repair all the failures in a hurry anymore. Of course, the fast response to particular events is still very important, but the monitoring system decreases greatly the amount of downtimes, and improves conditions of work for IT staff.

Network Monitoring Solutions

Post n°1 pubblicato il 17 Maggio 2013 da giouhou

Identifying what programs are using your computer`s network connection should be pretty simple. You can check your taskbar and see if you have any download managers, web browsers and other applications or games that may depend on the Internet. But keeping your system connected to the Internet without a firewall or virus scanner can pose some security risks especially if your operating system isn`t updated. What makes things worse is that you won`t be able to detect there are network problems unless you use one or more network monitoring tools. There are a few reasons as to why it is important to perform some network monitoring on your system every now and then. On a security perspective, network monitoring tools can identify any hidden programs that may be sending or receiving data. This can be bad in both ways since some malware are capable of sending your personal details while other malware can retrieve the necessary commands issued by a hacker to cause more damage to your system. By discovering which programs are doing these things, you can take action immediately. Network monitoring solutions without antivirus capabilities may not be able to tell the difference between bad programs and good programs but you can still try to halt the network activity once you spot it. Network monitors may also uncover programs that are using the network that virus scanners were unable to detect. Network monitors can also be useful tools in determining why your network or Internet connection is so slow. There could be a single application running in the background that is trying to use all of the available bandwidth to update something or possibly acquire a malware. If the program is experiencing heavy loads, other applications such as web browsers may have difficulty in accessing the Internet. Once again, monitoring it can forcibly close those applications to restore bandwidth. Other Network Monitoring may even allow you to set a bandwidth cap so the bandwidth distribution is more balanced.
