After graduating from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, in Denver, Colorado, Dr. Artim completed an internship and residency at David Grant USAF Medical Center at Travis Air Force Base in California, followed by a fellowship in hematology/oncology at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado. For more than twelve years, as a U.S. Air Force physician, Dr. Artim provided cancer treatment to families stationed at various United States Air Force medical centers across the nation, including Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, now known as the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base, Fort Worth. Throughout his career in medicine, Dr. Artim has been involved in teaching and training young physicians. Although he left active military duty to open a private practice in 1988, he continues to hold the rank of Lt. Colonel, Medical Corps USAF, inactive reserve.During the span of his medical practice, Dr. Artim has achieved leadership status on a local, regional, and national basis as a cancer researcher, speaker, and faculty member. He has held medical staff leadership positions at major hospitals including Baylor All Saints, Texas Health Resources--Harris Methodist Fort Worth, and Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth. Dr. Artim volunteers his time and helps support the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and the Doris Kupferle Breast Center.Dr. Artim is the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including being elected to fellowship status in the American College of Physicians.
