Arnold Classic: il documentario.

sono passati 25 anni dalla prima volta che Arnold Classic è stato ideato e realizzato. questa gara è stata ideata e organizzata da Arnold in persona e anno dopo anno il livello di preparazione degli atleti è crescita. Qualche giorno fa, stavo ascoltando l'intervista fatta da Shawn Ray a Rich Gaspari e questo ragazzo ha raccontato che nel 1989 ha deciso di gareggiare alla prima edizione proprio perchè era una gara organizzata da arnold e anche per il montepremi. Quell'anno rich ottenne il primo posto in classifica e la gara da quell'anno ebbe molto successo. Prima era solamente una gara PRO di bodybuilding. Poi venne instituita la versione femminile. In 25 anni l'AC è qualcosa che è esportata in tutti i continenti... già da due anni c'è la versione Europea dell'AC e da quest'anno ci sarà anche al versione brasiliana.

Ideatore di questo documentario è il mitico shawn ray, pro ifbb e pluri runner up al Mr. Olympia negli anni 90. Ecco come racconta questa esperienza:


“Now together we have jumped into the documentation of the second longest running IFBB Pro Bodybuilding Contest known as the Arnold Sports Festival. Being a former winner of this contest in 1991, I was fortunate and blessed to be able to stand on this contest stage 3 different times as a competitor and later move into cover or support this contest in all 25 years of its existence. This year I’m returning as a IFBB Master of Ceremonies for the Arnold Amateur Competition for my second year in a row which is a privilege and an honor by itself.”

come possiamo leggere, Shawn ray ha deciso di realizzare questo documentario perchè ha avuto modo di gareggiare ben 3 volte all'Arnold Classic e di vincere una volta questa manifestazione. ricorderete che nel 1991, Shawn ottenne il primo posto, ma poi per motivi legati al drug test, dovette restituire sia il premio che il trofeo. Però negli anni, Shawn ha sempre assistito all'AC, anche come commentatore televisivo oppure come da qualche anno a questa parte presentatore della versione amatoriale della gara l'Arnold Classic Amateur.

“I found myself during the interview regarding the year I won, longing for the innocence and camaraderie of the sport back then which I consider the “Golden Years” as a competitor. It was fun to reminisce about the times I had as a competitor and doing the interviews for this Documentary with the other contest winners, it took me to a place where I discovered even more appreciation for what Arnold and Jim have been able to continue to give back to the sport and the athletes. The best part about this DVD was seeing the Passion and Love the past Winners have for the this contest and the people who support it.”

L'idea di realizzare questo filmato è nata da fatto di aver vista una sua intervista che aveva fatto molti anni prima, nel 1991, quando vinse il titolo di Arnold Classic. La cosa che lo ha particolarmente toccato era rivedere i suoi anni quando gareggiava nel professionismo e da li ha pensato di come sarebbe stato bello realizzare un documentario nel quale raccontare la storia di questo evento... e come possiamo leggere lo scopo di questo documentario è quello di mostrare la passione e l'amore che gli atleti e i vincitori di questa manifestazione hanno per questa importante manifestazione e mostrare al mondo degli appassionati questa cosa , che non sempre dalla riviste, dalle interviste o dalle riviste viene fuori.

“This documentary had to be made to show the world what two men whom upon a “Hand Shake Deal” could do when they put their minds together. From the creation of the Arnold Sports Festival these two promoters have employed thousands of Athletes and brought together hundreds of sponsors and millions of fans in the name of Bodybuilding, Health & Fitness! I am proud that I could have a small hand in chronicling the history of such a great event that brings together a 25 Year Reunion of Champions on film and in person that will go down in history and last for eternity. Although my career has taken me around the world several times over and allowed me to earn a living from the sport I love this documentary has afforded me the opportunity to share with the other contest winners our perspective of what it is like to not only be a Winner but an Arnold Classic Champion!"

oltre agli atleti, che sono la parte più importante della manifestazione e della gara, il documentario di shawn ray è fatto anche per mostrare come la collaborazione di due uomini hanno reso possibile un evento di queste dimensioni, oggi non è più l'Arnold Classic ma "Arnold Sport Festival", perchè ogni anno in questa manifestazione non partecipano solo i bodybuilder pro e i dilettanti provenienti da diverse parti del mondo, ma gareggiano anche tanti atleti di diverse discipline e più passano gli anni e più questi atleti aumentano.
