Importance of data recovery

Data in our system is precious. Our data may get failed, corrupted or damaged due to unexpected issues. Here, we can use data recovery service to recover our data. We can retrieve data from any type of storage media including CDs, DVDs, hard disks, storage tapes and RAID. There are two types of damages to the system. They are logical and physical damage.
Storage device can encounter physical damage. Operating system usually encounters logical damage to file systems. Operating system recovery is one of the popular data recovery type. Here, we copy all the useful files from one disk to another. We can use a Live CD to accomplish data recovery. Optical disc authoring software helps us to complete data recovery successfully.
Disk-level data recovery
The recovery of data due to failure of a level of hard disk or a file system is known as Disk-level data recovery. Here, we cannot read data easily. Data recovery at disk-level is not an easy task. Recovery depends on the situation. Different possible solutions for disk-level recovery are
Repair file system
Software based recovery system
Master boot of records
Partition of tables
Hardware replacement of physically damaged disk
Other hardware recovery techniques
Another situation of disk-level data recovery is deletion of files. Files may be deleted from any type of storage media. Usually files will not get deleted easily when we delete any file. Its structure and reference will be available in the dictionary. Reference to these files from the dictionary will be removed temporarily. We can restore them if we want.
CD ROMS can also face some breakages. Head crashes are common for all types of CDS and DVDS. Motor failure, mechanical features, simple breakages etc can cause loss of data. Here, we need to use different recovery technique. We may need to replace some parts. It will include replacement of hard-disk also. But, we cannot replace a logical data loss. Specialized disk-imaging procedures are available for this kind of data recovery methods. We can copy the data to a reliable disk using these specialized disk-imaging procedures. Now, we can reconstruct the disk.
Hardware recovery includes different types of physical recovery procedures. Examples for them are
Removing a PCB and replacing it with another healthy PCB. PCB is printed circuit board.
POB Swap is another popular data recovery method. We can use this method when the system area HDD is damaged.
Removing hard disk platter is also famous data recovery procedure. This is a combination of other two data recovery methods.
Logical damages
There are different types of logical damages for a system. They are overwritten data and corrupt file systems. Many people believe that we cannot retrieve data once it is overwritten physically. But computer scientists have discovered that we can retrieve data that are physically overwritten. The recovery method is known as scanning transmission electron microscopy. Gutmann method is also another method used for data recovery. Damages to file systems make hard disk unreadable. Remote data recovery is also a famous data recovery method.
