Boat Trips in Malta You Should Not Miss: The 2022 Guide

With its golden beaches and crystal-clear waters, Malta is a fascinating holiday destination. The best way to enjoy Malta is by sea, on a private boat trip. You will love this Mediterranean paradise, home to beautiful nature, turquoise sea, magnificent historical sites, and plenty of sunshine throughout the year.

Sailing in Malta is a great way to immerse yourself in all of these islands. The following are some of the best bays and anchorages in Malta for any boat trip.

Whether it is for a full-day boat trip, a short break, or an overnight trip, try and see at least one or a combination of our proposed bays. Some of which are difficult to access from the ground.

Sister island of Malta, Camino may be small, but it is certainly the most infamous and Instagram-worthy bays. Comino is famous for its magnificent turquoise waters and wonderful surroundings.

The Blue Lagoon is Malta’s most sought-after boat tour and is popular with tourists and locals alike. If you want to take a boat tour to the Blue Lagoon, I suggest that you rent a boat in Malta and do a private boat trip instead of mass tourist boats.

By chartering a boat to see Comino, you can make the most of your trip by choosing one or two bays to see. So, you can enjoy your time, sunbathe, snorkel, get on a paddleboard and relax under the Mediterranean sun.

The beautiful Blue Lagoon especially during the quiet off-season tourist months is a place to visit when you can really enjoy its natural beauty. If you visit Malta during these quiet months, I definitely recommend taking a boating vacation that includes a boat trip to the Blue Lagoon and a hike along the Camino. Use a local guide who will show you all the hidden gems.

In the height of summer, the Blue Lagoon can be busy, but there are still ways to enjoy it. If you are thinking of taking a day trip by boat from Malta to the Blue Lagoon, I recommend that you leave early and have breakfast on board.

This way, you can enjoy the Blue Lagoon before the arrival of the massive day tour boats.  Alternatively, charter a boat for a few days and enjoy your vacation. Sleep anchored in the Blue Lagoon and wake up in a peaceful atmosphere, taking advantage of the tranquillity before the arrival of the commercial boats.

Nestled between rocks and accessible only by boat, Crystal Lagoon is an extremely exclusive alternative to Blue Lagoon. This is definitely a spot you must visit on a private boat.

Santa Maria Bay is famous for its incredible waters for swimming and snorkeling. This beautiful sandy beach is much quieter than the rest of the island.

St. Nicholas Bay is another must-see during your boating experience, offering crystal clear waters and snorkeling. The two small sandy beaches are very accessible, so you can swim, snorkel or paddle to spend some time on the beach. St. Nicholas is famous for its hot summer months, but it is usually quieter than the Blue Lagoon.
