Corno Grande, cresta Ovest

Il Gran Sasso è certamente la montagna più bella e fotogenica dell’Appenino. Questa immagine ritrae la vetta Occidentale del Corno Grande che con i suoi 2914 m costituisce la massima elevazione del gruppo; dietro il Corno Grande si vedono la Sella dei due Corni e il Corno Piccolo. L’immagine è stata ripresa dalla cresta della Portella e mette in primo piano la cresta Ovest. La salita della cresta è possibile e abbastanza facile, ma standoci sopra non se ne apprezza appieno il fantastico sviluppo. Ho usato la mia Olympus Pen E-Pm1 con lo zoom 14-42 mm venduto insieme al corpo macchina regolato sulla lunghezza focale di circa 25 mm.

Gran Sasso is the most beautiful and photogenic mountain in the Appenini. In this picture I took the west summit of the Corno Grande (Great Horn) that at 2914 m elevation is the tallest summit of the Gran Sasso. Behind the Corno Grande one sees the two Horns pass and the Corno Piccolo (Little Horn). The image was taken from the Portella ridge and gives emphasis to the West ridge of the Corno Grande. The West ridge can be climbed without great difficulty, but while climbing one has not the same perspective as in this picture. I used my Olympus E-Pm1 camera with the kit zoom 14-42 mm set at around 25 mm.

Un’altra immagine della parete Est del Corno Grande al Gran Sasso d’Italia, presa dal parcheggio dell’autostrada, subito dopo l’uscita dal traforo del Gran Sasso. La foto è stata scattata alla fine di giugno 2017; sulla parete rimanevano ancora tracce di neve. Quando lo scopo del viaggio non è la fotografia, le immagini sono sempre scattate un po’ in fretta, dal luogo in cui ci si trova e nell’orario in cui si arriva. Questa volta sono stato fortunato perché mi sono trovato a passare dal traforo del Gran Sasso in un orario favorevole (erano circa le nove del mattino) e in una giornata splendida. Ad ogni modo, proprio perché nei viaggi fatti per ragioni diverse dallo scattare foto non si possono troppo cercare le inquadrature ideali, è importante portare con sé obiettivi di varie lunghezze focali, in modo da ottenere comunque una inquadratura gradevole. In questa occasione avevo portato la Olympus E-PM1 che è un macchina piccola e leggera e avevo ottiche dall’11 mm (lo zoom 14-42 mm venduto con la macchina più l’aggiuntivo grandangolare) al 150 mm (lo zoom 40-150 mm f:4-5.6). Questa immagine è presa con il 40-150 alla minima lunghezza focale.

Another photo of the East side of the Corno Grande of the Gran Sasso, taken from the highway parking lot. I took this image in June 2017; some snow is still present. I was lucky to arrive early in the morning, when the mountain is best illuminated , and to find a beautiful day. When photography is not the scope of the trip, one must often accept not ideal conditions and shooting points, and it is greatly helpful to compensate with a wide range of focal lengths. In this trip I had with me my Olympus E-PM1 and focal lengths ranging from 11 mm (the kit zoom 14-42 mm plus the wide angle converter) to 150 mm (the zoom 40-150 mm f:4-5.6). For this image I used the  40-150 set to its shortest focal length.
