Caldonazzo: Master Gentile Polo at dinner with the artist Sabrina Broll.

A pleasant evening between Art and pizza that last night, 24 February 2018, in Caldonazzo between the artists Sabrina Broll and Gentile Polo di Mezzolombardo. From the 14th to the 31st of October 2017, the two artists shared a two-pictorial "Zapige" (from the Friuli region: impronta / orma) at the Archaeological area of Palazzo Lodron in Trento (now owned by the Volksbank). Hinting at the Friulian origins of the artist Gentile Polo, the exhibition intended, through a scratched, skinned or color imprint that shatters in the primaries to optically compose an idea, a path, illustrate an evolving path even within the same work, from the preparatory notes to the final design to the painted painting. The artists had the honor of seeing their work presented by their friend Roberto Piazza, a wooden painter and sculptor, former President of the Associazione Amici dell'Arte of Riva del Garda and currently a teacher of drawing and engraving. Among the other friends who contributed to the event Annachiara Marangoni, pedagogue at the ANFFAS Trentino Onlus, the poet Angelo Magro and the theatrical actor Vito Basiliana. http://www.studio-martorelli.net/tag/angelo-magro/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCG-L9eKAjw After the bi-personal exhibition the two artists S. Broll and Gentile Polo met last Saturday at the new home of the painter to reciprocate the dinner at the Studio d'Arte Gentile Polo and to discuss the participation in the next event organized by his friend Antonello Greenhouse that should provide an artistic "en plein air" at the shores of Lake Canzolino in the indicative period of July, in conjunction with a fishing competition on the lake. As soon as I have certain dates I will keep you informed! Between the pizza and toasts we have also touched on current issues such as the controversial public performance by V. Sgarbi at the toilet and the interesting pictorial animation film focusing on the mystery of Vincent Van Gogh's death "Loving Vincent": the film by Dorota Kobiela and Hugh Welchman, was created starting from the paintings of the artist, giving life to the protagonists paintings with actors in "flesh and bone" and then repainting the 65 thousand frames in the style of Van Gogh thanks to a team of one hundred and twenty-five painters. An investigation of his life and the reason for his death starting from the paintings and letters of the tormented artist, a vision that is too synthetic, fictional and incomplete, deliberately different from the usual biographical documentaries, following the statement by Van Gogh "... we can not let our paintings speak." (Letter that Vincent had in his pocket on July 29, 1890, the day he died). "My dear brother, thanks for the good letter and 50 francs. The most important thing is that everything goes well; why then insist on minor details ?; moreover, there is time before the possibility of talking about calm-minded business presents itself. The other painters, of whatever opinion, are instinctively kept away from the discussions on current trade. And indeed we can not let our paintings speak. Well, dear brother, there is something that I have always told you and I repeat once again with all the gravity that can give the efforts of a constant concern to do better than I can - I repeat again: I consider you quite another thing to a simple Corot salesman; on my own, you have your share in the same production of certain paintings, which even in the ruin keep their calm. We are indeed at this point and it is the best thing I can tell you in a moment of relative crisis. At a time when the relationships between shopkeepers of dead artists and living artists are very tense. Well: for my work I risk my life every day, and I have lost half my reason - all right - but you are not among the merchants of men as far as I know, and you can assume your position, really acting with humanity . But what do you want at last?" ("Lettere a Theo", edited by M. Cescon, Ed. Guanda, 1993.) The evening ended with a visit to the study of Mrs. Broll and the vision of "Loving Vincent", with the sweatshirt and feline supervision of the two gattoni of the nice landlady. Another pleasant and constructive evening therefore of the maestro Gentile Polo, which demonstrates his artistic and relational commitment.
