It seems incredible but one day after the inauguration of the exhibition ARRIA by Antonello Serra, at the height of the construction works, a part of the wall of the Castle of Drena undergoes a structural collapse and the inauguration is stopped.
Started early in the morning of June, the colleague Gentile Polo with the trustworthy outfitter Nicola “Nico” Cicchelli to help his friend Serra busy at work, they saw themselves suddenly block just before the manor. Amazed by the inconvenience, they got out of the van asking worried what had happened: after an initial moment of apparent confusion, the caretaker informing of the incident finally met them.
Incredulous, the artist Gentile Polo and Nico listen to the caretaker telling how frightened the morning he arrived at his workplace as usual, he opened the tower then, while he was going to open the halls he heard a sudden dull rolling immediately covered by the rotor of a passing helicopter. Open and entered the main hall of the Castle recalls that he was amazed by the strong and abnormal current of air that penetrated: looking instinctively around, it took a few minutes to realize that, looking outside, a large part of the wall was missing from view.
Great the bustle of the Fire Brigade rushed to secure the castle and the path below the collapse.
The staging of the exhibition was suspended, consequently the inauguration of the ARRIA exhibition which was supposed to take place on 02 June.
Natural the bewilderment of the artist Antonello Serra that with ARRIA wanted to celebrate his thirty years of activity, but fortunately no significant damage has touched the works of the exhibition.
Thirty international artists who had responded to the invitation to contribute with a personal work inspired by the personal: the works of the thirty artists make up a collective theme, ONE TRACE FOR ARRIA, which introduces the personal of the master Serra.
The artists involved come from France with Helena Gath, Catalonia with Xavi Puerta and Carles Guitart, Germany with Fulvio Pinna, Uruguay with Osvaldo Cibils, and then Sicily with Jano Siracusa, Calabria with Rosy Imbrogno, from Veneto Paola Toffolon, from Friuli Venezia Giulia colleagues Marina Battistella, Arianna Ellero and Vincent Edo ‘, numerous then the group of Serra from Sardinia with Franca Tronci, Caterina Porcu, Dina Montesu, Maria Grazia Medda, Marina Desogus, Giuseppe Bosich, Silvano Caria, Antonio Ledda and Marco Pili; the local Trentino group with Cristina Zanella, Annalisa Filippi, the Pergamian ceramist Gianni Anderle, the video maker Stefano Benedetti, Matteo Boato, the vertical artist Claudio Cavalieri, the architect Roberto Codroico, Mirko Dematte ‘, Lorenzo “LOME “Menguzzato del Bosco dei poeti” and the Rotal artist of Cosmic Dynamism Dear Polo.
In order to alleviate the inconvenience caused by the forced suspension of the ARRIA event at the Castle of Drena, the same Gentile Polo hosted the French colleague Helena Gath at her residence in Rovere ‘della Luna, while the organizer entertained the Catalan colleague Carles Guitart who had already booked accommodation in the center of Trento, and the Venetian painter Paola Toffolon.
Numerous notifications of esteem and encouragement to the artist Antonello Serra for the unfortunate setback, waiting to know from the Councilor for the local culture the next steps to be done with the authorizations and the works still on site.
Too bad the fall of style of the artist who has withdrawn the work destined to the event even before thinking of some solidarity attestation and of the local artists association that, despite having several associates engaged in the event, has shown disinterest in the incident occurred to colleagues.
Instead, the opportunity was excellently used by Helena Gath, Antonello Serra, Gentile Polo and Carles Guitart for a convivial exchange of information and ideas, including the design of an exhibition in Catalonia on paper money and its sociological impact.
The evocative beauty of the nuragic symbology of ARRIA and A TRACCIA PER ARRIA are only postponed and we of the Studio d’Arte Gentile Polo will soon update you of the next developments.
