At Badoere the 5th Biennial of the Artist’s Book

The V BILA (International Biennial of the Artist’s Book) opens on Saturday 28 September in Badoere of Morgano (TV).

Designed by the artist Virginia Milici, president of the Cultural Association Art Gallery Museum NabilaFluxus, and organized on the occasion of the 15th AMACI 2019 Contemporary Day, the exhibition displays books painted by artists from all over the world.

Seat of the V BILA 2019 will be the former seventeenth-century church of St. Antonio from Padua (IT).

The beautiful little church, decorated with ashlars and vine shoots, was enlarged in the eighteenth century with the construction of the bell tower and is part of the corpus of a famous Venetian square with a double barchessa (hemicycle) called “La Rotonda”, designed by the rich Venetian family of Badoer based on a project by the Massari school.

“The Badoers erected the church (1645) dedicated to St. Antonio from Padua and La Rotonda with the intention of hosting the weekly market on Monday that the Serenissima Republic authorized in 1689 to its noble Angelo Badoer. Especially original the west barchessa consists of 41 arches corresponding to as many shops of artisans and merchants, these, placed under the arcades, had an entrance placed inside the Rotunda and an upward opening balcony that served as a showcase ” (History of the municipality of Morgano, from comune.morgano.tv.it)

The collective exhibition, in which the artist and master decorator Gentile Polo also participates, aims at promoting the international tradition of the artist’s book and the object book to the general public.

The inauguration of the V BILA (International Biennial of the Artist Book) on Saturday 28 September at 17.00, organized under the patronage of the Veneto Region, Library and Municipality of Morgano, will see the critical interventions of Dr. Valtero Curzi, Philosopher and art critic , and by Prof. Giancarlo Da Lio, critic and art historian.

There are 90 works on display for 85 artists who have joined the initiative from Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Denmark, Holland, Iceland, Hungary, Argentina, Great Britain, Chile, Canada, Russia, Uruguay, United States, Brazil , Australia and Mexico.

It also includes the MailArt section, ie small format works sent through the Mailart Artists’ circuit in a stamped and stamped envelope.
