With “Flying Art” by Guadalupe Zepeda, postal art flies to Mexico


“Flying Art – Crossing borders” (Flying Art – Oltrepassando i confini) inaugurates the 2024 Rotalian artistic summer of Italy – Mexico cultural exchange, with the curator Mrs. Guadalupe Zepeda of the Estudio de artes visuales independiente Frida Khalo of Mezzolombardo (TN, IT-38017) and the Kunst Grenzen-Arte di frontiera aps cultural association of Rovere della Luna (TN, IT-38030). The aim of the project is to promote an Italy – Mexico exchange with artists from Leopoldina Benitez's Azul Cobalto Foundation. Through this initiative we intend to create significant connections through the creative act of Art: to encourage the exchange of cultural experiences between Italian and Mexican artists, to promote and enhance differences through artistic expression and intercultural dialogue, to create bridges of collaboration and understanding between the artistic communities of the two countries.
  1. WHO IS IT FOR: Italian and foreign artists can participate in the “Flying Art – Crossing borders” (Flying Art – Oltrepassando i confini) project as long as they live in Italy, without age limits.
  2. TECHNIQUE: the technique is free but the work must be two-dimensional (painting, drawing, graphics, photography, collage...) and on a light and unbreakable support (paper or cardboard) not exceeding 2 millimeters in thickness, for reasons of air transport up to at destination. Works on fragile (e.g. glass or ceramic) or heavy (e.g. aluminum or iron) supports that could compromise the total air weight available for the journey WILL NOT BE ALLOWED.
  3. FORMAT: the format of the work must be a single or double A5 (21 x 14.8 cm) to possibly form a diptych.
  4. WORK DATA: the work(s) sent must be accompanied by the relevant TECHNICAL SHEET (click on the word to open the online downloadable form!) including the Artist Name, Title, Year, Technique, Brief Description of the work, and any written authorization to sell and the selling price. In the event of an authorized and successful sale, the curator reserves the right to withhold 30% of the proceeds as expenses, while the remaining 70 will go to the author of the work. The works that are unsold will remain in the custody of the cultural institution which undertakes to enhance them in future exhibitions or events.
  5. CERTIFICATE: all artists participating in the “Flying Art – Crossing borders” (Flying Art – Oltrepassando i confini) project will be given the relevant Certificate of Participation at the end of the event.
  6.   7. ANNOUNCEMENT DEADLINE: registrations must be received, complete with the completed and signed Registration Form and the registration fee (if credited via Inbank with a copy of the operation to the curator's e-mail address: daranth_2000@yahoo.com) no later than on 20 June 2024, while the works must be delivered by the deadline of 29 June (please check the postal times in case of shipping) to the following address:GUADALUPE ZEPEDA – FRIDA KHALO STUDIO VIA ROTALIANA 59/A 38017 MEZZOLOMBARDO (TN)or delivered by hand through agreements with the curator on Tel. 334 1545809 (also WhatsApp).
  8. RELEASE: by registering for the “Flying Art – Crossing borders” (Flying Art – Oltrepassando i confini) project the artist automatically exempts the curators and sponsors of the event from any liability related to third party factors or for any damage related to transport, tampering, bad weather, fire, theft, inventory at airport customs, and other things not dependent on the will of the aforementioned.
The Postal Art exhibition “Flying Art – Crossing borders” (Flying Art – Oltrepassando i confini) will be on display in the rooms of the Hotel El Encanto de Puebla (Av 5 Pte 105, Colonia Centro, 72000 Heroica Puebla de Zaragoza, Pue., Mexico) on Saturday 13 July 2024 and will remain on display for a month. At the end of the exhibition cycle in Mexico of the works created by the artists resident in Italy, the works of the artists of the Azul Cobalto Foundation will in turn be hosted at the Kunst Grenzen Gallery - Frontier Art of the cultural association of the same name located in Rovere della Luna (Trento, IT-38030) in an exhibition with a date to be agreed for the year 2025. The curator of the “Flying Art – Crossing borders” (Flying Art – Oltrepassando i confini) project, Mrs. Guadalupe Zepeda is a Mexican artist born in S. Martin Texmelucan in 1973 and graduated in 2001 in Visual Arts at the University of Art – Architecture and Design of Guadalajara UDG who he has lived in Italy for years. In 2002 she founded the Frida Kahlo art school in her hometown of San Martin Texmelucan and promoted the construction of the city's cultural center. In 2007 she participated in a specialist course at the Taller del Prado Art Academy in Madrid to enhance her artistic development and in 2008 she moved to Trentino-Alto Adige for love. She has participated in numerous cultural events all over the world and also carries out artistic workshops at her own independent Frida Khalo Estudio de artes visuales in Mezzolombardo.   Azul Cobalto – AC Arte Mexicana Blu Cobalto is a foundation inspired by the talent of indigenous youth. “Azul Cobalto began its activity in 1995 when the teacher Leopoldina Benítez decided to visit the mountains of Oaxaca. At that moment she understood that there was a lot to do in those communities, so together with some artist colleagues she organized art caravans, years, projects, presentations, conferences, then she set herself up as a Civil Association. This cultural movement is committed to the indigenous society to manage, promote and disseminate culturally and artistically in their communities, as well as promote the talents of their youth in a way that creates an impact on their lives.” (https://azulcobaltoartmx.wixsite.com/azulcobalto) Kunst Grenzen-Arte di frontiera aps is a very active artistic and social promotion association, based in Rovere della Luna (TN, IT-38030). The Association is apolitical, non-denominational, non-profit and pursues aims of artistic and social promotion, with a strong driving force towards intercultural exchanges and collaborations with other Associations or Bodies, both in Italy and abroad. The current President is the artist Gentile Polo (Mezzolombardo, 05 April 1954 -) who graduated, as a working student, in 1976 in Pictorial Decoration at the Vittoria Art Institute of Trento and recognized, since 2004, "Silver Spatula" for the technical-artistic skills, the activity as a teacher at CentroFor (Professional Training and Accident Prevention Centre) in Trento and the commitment expressed as a Councilor within the Artisans Association of the Autonomous Province of Trento. Since 2007 he has dedicated himself to painting, exhibiting in Italy and abroad. During his years of volunteering in Ethiopia he was struck by the different way of understanding color and developed an innovative method of watercolor painting that made it distinctive.
