To be able to easily create the atmosphere you want at home, a dream straight out of science fiction movies where you can see the heroes adjust the lighting or trigger the music with a simple hand movement. For a few years now, this has been possible and little by little the options are multiplying. The last player to enter this market, Gloo smart lamp.
The design of a wine bottle
From a distance, Gloo looks like a bottle of wine or a decanter with an original design. But we advise you not to pour a liquid substance into it. This is a smart lamp, created by the start-up Deconnect to help you create a cosy, relaxing atmosphere.
Equipped with a multi-color LED, Gloo can be controlled from its smartphone using an Android or iOS application. This creates an atmosphere in a few seconds thanks to the different colors. It also has a small gadget, a camera installed at the top. Taking the form of a plug, this one seems to be intended to allow to take a selfie.
Note that this smart lamp can also be used as a charger for smartphones, a gadget that can be useful. Especially since the company’s communication seems to be mainly oriented towards professionals such as bars or lounges clubs. Offering customers an option to recharge their phones directly on the table could be interesting. It is possible to charge up to 4 devices at the same time and the total charging capacity is twice as high, and the application also allows you to locate the nearest Gloo and see if the restaurant still has free tables.
Presented at CES 2017, the Gloo lamp is not yet available for sale to individuals on the company’s website. It is available in three sizes and six colors.
A competitive market for Gloo
It should be noted that this is not the first company to place itself on the market of atmospheric themes. Bolt, the Misfit bulb works on a system relatively close to it. By using the type of LEDs chosen from the company’s range, it is possible to create a specific atmosphere for each room. For example a forest, for those who want a peaceful moment in the middle of nature, or a sunset. A total of ten settings are available. The whole system can also be controlled from an Android or iOS application.
