If Brazilian midfielder Lucas Paqueta 26, who is suspected of manipulating the match in the English Premier League, which is drawing attention around the world, goes wrong, he may not be able to play in England anymore.
Parqueta, who is suspected of manipulating matches, could be suspended for up to 10 years for manipulating matches in the Premier League.
According to media reports, the English Football Association has charged Paqueta for allegedly being warned for inappropriate purposes affecting the betting market by more than one person.
The FA are accused of intentionally being warned by Paqueta for a foul on Boubacari Sumare against Leicester City in November 2022, a tackle on John McGinn against Aston Villa in March 2023, a foul on Chrissencio Somerville against Leeds United in May 2023 and a handball foul on extra time against Bournemouth, the opener of the 2023-2024 season.
But Paqueta has denied the allegations and promised to back West Ham on Paqueta’s side.
In a statement, Paqueta said, “I was truly surprised and angry that the FA had indicted me. For nine months, I have sincerely cooperated with the FA’s investigation and provided all information. I will deny all charges and fight every moment to clarify myself. I will not comment further while the situation is unfolding.”
“Given that manipulation of the site is a crime, the FA should work with the police if the prosecution is really serious. The evidence is only circumstantial,” a West Ham official told The Sun.
West Ham said: “The club admits prosecution from the FA for breaching Paqueta’s rules. He denies the allegations and will continue to defend his position. The club will continue to support and support him throughout the process.”
The FA found that unusual amounts of betting activity were detected and reported by police officers from warnings received by Paqueta, many of which were by accounts registered on the island of Paqueta near Rio de Janeiro, where he was born.
Paqueta is a midfielder who moved to West Ham from Olympique Lyon France in 2022. He played 59 Premier League games in two years, scoring eight goals and nine assists.
This season, Paqueta has scored four goals and six assists, especially in 31 league games, and is attracting Manchester City’s attention.
In April, French media outlet Foot Mercato said, “Manchester City has completed a personal agreement with Paqueta. We have not yet reached an agreement with West Ham over the transfer fee.”
Manchester City tried to sign Paqueta last summer, but at the time, the FA reported that it was investigating the allegations, withdrawing its transfer offer of 85 million pounds about 147.8 billion won. 슬롯사이트 추천
Paqueta finished his season at West Ham with one more season remaining and seemed to be pushing for a move to Manchester City again, but things started to change drastically. Paqueta must respond to the FA indictment by June 3.
