Saint RENE (RENATUS), évêque d'Angers en Anjou e successivamente Bishop of Sorrento in Italy(vers 422 ou 450). St. René was a bishop who lived in the 5th century, in the city of Sorrento near Naples in Italy. He was the 1st or 2nd bishop of that city, and probably was one of the hermits who dwelt in the hills near Sorrento. His oratory (hours-chapel) became the city's first cathedral (in the 17th c. a large basilica was built there by the Benedictine monks of Monte Cassino). The present-day duomo of Sorrento has a chapel dedicated to this Saint. Sometimes he is confused with St. René of Angers.
