this is how winter gets you -
the idea that everything flows away
and you are the nonsensical leaf still spared
by the distracted lorryman.

everything goes its own direction
and you can only feel the chill getting
at your bones, paralysing you until
somehow, it will all turn into the coldest black
you've ever felt and the nothing you fear
will stare at you from a close distance.

this is how you end up feeling useles and powerless.
this is how you cease wanting but have to pretend you love
and live and enjoy your fuckin self.

this is how you die, but you do not.
