Aug. 21 - Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy has led the franchise to four straight playoff appearances, including a win in Super Bowl XLV in 2010 and two consecutive division titles the last two seasons. But despite a combined 26-6 regular-season record those last two seasons, the team has not only been unable to get back to the Super Bowl, but it also hasn't even managed to reach the conference title game, derailed by the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers, respectively. So what will it take for the Pack to truly be back? Only time, and a really good season, will tell. So here are five players to keep an eye on this season when it comes to the Green Bay Packers: QB Aaron Rodgers: The numbers are simply phenomenal. Since taking over as the Packers' starting signal-caller in 2008, the Super Bowl XLV champion and 2011 league MVP has thrown nearly four times as many touchdown passes (170) as interceptions (45). RB Eddie Lacy: It hasn't been for a lack of trying, but McCarthy's club has struggled to run the football in recent seasons with very little success. WR Randall Cobb: The emergence of the explosive two-year veteran is but one of perhaps many reasons the Packers weren't in a rush to re-sign veteran wideout Greg Jennings. DE Datone Jones: In 2011, the Green Bay defense slipped to dead last in the NFL in yards allowed and gave up the most passing yards in a season in league history. CB Casey Hayward: The second-round pick of a year ago had a huge impact in his debut campaign. Heyward totaled 53 tackles and rolled up team-highs with six interceptions and 21 passes defensed.
