Thich Quang Duc, nato nel 1897, fu un monaco buddista vietnamita (Chiamato anche bonzos ) 11-06-1963 Si diede fuoco fino alla morte in una strada di Saigon molto transitata, il suo esempio venne ripetuto da altri monaci.

 Il testimone David Halberstam racconto che mentre il suo corpo ardeva lui resto in piedi senza un grido, ne un gesto di dolore.

Thich Quang Duc stava protestando contro la maniera in cui il governo opprimeva la religione buddista nel suo paese.

 Dopo la sua morte i suoi resti furono cremati come da tradizione buddista, ma il suo cuore rimase intatto, fu da tutti considerato santo, il suo cuore è conservato al sicuro nel BANCO DI RISERVA DEL VIETNAM come una reliquia religiosa.

  Questo è l’origine del proverbio che dice “bruciarsi a bonzo” ma al contrario di cio che pensa la gente non si riferisce al suicidio, ma ad una  protesta  politica.
