Diether "Diet" Ocampo said that after a decade of being an actor, he still dreams of breaking free of his matinee idol image and taking on more mature, more unexpected roles.
Ocampo said that if he had a choice, he would prefer to do serious drama projects. He said that he is comfortable doing heavy, emotional scenes, and finds it easy to cry on-screen.
āMas gusto ko iyong seryoso more on drama kasi doon kami hinubog talaga noong nagsisimula pa lang ako puro seryosong teleserye na. So kung komedya makikita mo medyo sumasablay-sablay ako. Masasabi kong mas komportable akong gumagawa ng drama,ā the actor said.
Ocampo said that for him to cry easily he just thinks of hurtful memories when he was still young.
"Kasi sa dami ng mga masasalimuot na pinagdaanan ko noong ako ay bata pa nagagamit ko iyan sa malulungkot na eksena," he said.
Diet in "Maligno"
Presently, Ocampo is running UNO, the men's magazine that he publishes. Aside from UNO he is also busy taping and promoting his newest horror mini-series "Maligno" with actress Claudine Barretto.
"Maligno" is the second installment of "Sineserye Presents: The Susan Roces Cinema Collection".
The series is the television adaptation of a classic film starring veteran actress Susan Roces.
In the series he will portray the role of a doctor and Barrettos sweetheart.
"Maligno" is a story that revolves around the life of an ambitious woman who was fated to give birth to a demon child.
Despite her skepticism, destiny catches up with her: several revelations unfold and she realizes that her beloved son is doomed to become a satanic cult's anti-Christ.
Joining Ocampo in the project is a powerhouse cast led by Ms. Susan Roces, who will play a very special role, Rafael Rosell, Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, DJ Durano, Arlene Tolibas, Empoy, Carlo Lacana, with the special participation of Rio Locsin and Susan Africa.
"Maligno" had its pilot episode on April 28 on ABS-CBN.
