SSS Mess Ive been using SSS e-services lately. To my surprise, I can see someone elses personal information after logging on with my credentials. I tried doing this two weeks ago and saw the profile of a guy whos working for a call center. I can see all his personal details. I tried it again today and what I saw are personal details of someone working abroad. Now, I am sure that someone else is also seeing my account information. I wonder whats going on. Could it be that the public is paying the salaries of SSS IT people who are sleeping in their job? Why dont they just shut down the system to secure members information? I encourage everyone to log-in to www.sss.gov.ph e-services to see it yourself. This has been going on for some time. Its a mess. I wish ABS-CBN will do an investigation and report about this to warn the public. Bernie P. Our monthly NPS contribution which is supposedly to be claimed in lump sum after our sojourn/contract ended is now impossible since the said contribution shall forwarded to social security agency's account. That money is the only saving that most workers can bring after their contract because they regularly send their monthly income to their family in Philippines. The subprime mortgage crisis

The subprime mortgage crisis Good day! I was hopeful when I read the title that perhaps someone had finally looked at our own vulnerabilities to the on-going financial meltdown in Wall Street. I was particularly interested in the analysis behind the conclusion that RP wouldn't follow in the footsteps of the US subprime mortgage crisis. I was sadly disappointed on both counts. I found the piece wanting in more dimension, perspective, and analysis, all of which could have been helped by a more exhaustive research effort. First of all, the analysis of the current subprime mortgage crisis was sorely lacking in depth and even accuracy. This whole mess started from the fact that the risk intrinsic to subprime mortgages was passed on, through the process of securitization, to unsuspecting pension funds, investment houses, etc. via the process of securitization. It is this process of securitization, once hailed as an ingenius financial innovation, that allowed risk to be taken on and then later passed on to other parties by banks. Because housing prices were booming, the returns on such securities were higher than others, and this led to a vicious cycle of excess credit and riskier loans. Once asset prices dropped, loan repayment rates dropped too, security prices dropped, and again, another vicious cycle started. These points were hardly emphasized at all in the article. What happened to NMHFC was similar in nature , but come November, they're adding securitization to the mix. This now means that we have the EXACT same recipe for disaster as did the US housing market! Oh but wait... the securities will be guaranteed by the government. While this indeed supports the article's conclusion that RP won't have the same subprime mortgage crisis , this in fact will make the situation even worse! With a government guarantee, what you have are private sector loans that, if defaulted on, will be assumed by the government, making it then public debt. And what happens when public debt becomes too big and too unsustainable? Investor confidence fails, a credit crunch ensues, and as in the case of East Asia in 1997, a currency and financial crisis begins. All this is made possible by the process of securitization. That housing prices have gone upf, as assertedf by NMHFC, is not a guarantee against such crises... in fact, a booming housing market is a necessary condition for it. I understand that the government wants to allay fears and calm people down during such troubled times. A severe loss of confidence in the country's banking system after all, whether unfounded or not, is self-fulfilling. But the media should do more than just repeat what the government says. Newsbreak has always been known for its good reporting, and I hope that tradition of good and responsible reporting continues. I hope this small effort of mine helps even a bit. Carlene is over her stupid love for Dennis

Former beauty queen Carlene Aguilar admitted on "The Buzz" on Sunday that she used to fight with other women just to keep her then boyfriend, actor Dennis Trillo.

But those days are over, Aguilar told The Buzz special guest host Kris Aquino on a one-on-one interview Sunday.

Looking trim and lovely, Aguilar said that her squabbles with other women over Trillo were part of growing up, and was all done out of love for him.

"Siguro sobrang in-love lang kasi, syempre, pag in-love ka tanga ka," she told Kris.



Aguilar also told Kris that she's perfectly fine with her situation: separated from Trillo but having custody of their son, 19-month-old Calix.

"At least nakita ko na inuuna ni Dennis si Calix above everything or anything else. Okay na yon sa akin. Kasi mas okay na sa akin na binibigyan niya ng importansya yung baby namin. Sobrang okay kami ni Dennis ngayon. Ako happy ako kasi yung baby ko nasa akin eh. So happy na ako that way," she said.



Another thing Aguilar is okay with is the possibility that Trillo might be dating his ex-girlfriend, sexy actress Cristine Reyes. Aguilar and Reyes had a much-publicized "encounter" with Reyes several months ago--supposedly over Trillo.

Trillo, Reyes and Aguilar were in the news again last week, after it was reported that the three of them bumped into each other accidentally at a mall. Trillo and Reyes, who had just finished watching a movie together, reportedly "snubbed" Aguilar, pretending that they didn't see her.

Aguilar however said that she was perfectly fine with what happened. She told Kris that she's already over her heady romance with Trillo and is even entertaining possible suitors.

"Oo naman para mas masayang life ," she told Kris.

DepEd reiterates rules for schools on enrolment, class size

Days before classes commence, the Department of Education on Thursday reiterated several rules that govern enrolment and class size to guide public schools nationwide.
In a statement, DepEd Secretary Jesli Lapus reiterated Department Order No. 21, series of 2006, which allows children who will be six years old by the opening of classes - June 10 - to enroll in Grade 1.
To be admitted, the enrolling pupil should present his or her birth certificate, or a join affidavit attesting to the birth of the child, as basis for admission.
"We hope this guideline will add to the smooth opening of classes as many of our enrollees belong to this age group," Lapus was quoted as saying.
Children younger than six years old may also be admitted provided their readiness for school has been assessed properly by the school.
The statement also reiterated several enrollment guidelines for schools, particularly on admissions and class size.
The department reiterated that transferees enrolling should present their report card or Form 138 to the school where they intend to transfer. If it is not yet available the form should be given no later than the end of the first grading period, the statement said.
DepEd also said class sizes should be between 12 pupils or students, to a maximum of 60 per class. However, classes from Grades 1 to 3 should not exceed 40 pupils per class to keep "teaching-learning process more manageable during these foundation years of schooling."
It also reiterated its policy on giving priority on admissions to new entrants who are residents of the locality where the school is located, subject to the threshold ratio of not exceeding 40 pupils per class, the statement said.
The DepEd also gave schools a go-signal to adopt the double shift policy to accommodate students, if necessary.

Teodoro: Govt should invest in training pilots

Aside from getting more advanced aircraft, the government should also spend more to upgrade the skills of military pilots, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro revealed Wednesday.

Teodoro made the suggestion after announcing that the Department of National Defense will open up for re-bidding a contract to supply night capable helicopters to the Philippine military.

"We also need adequate funds for training and increase proficiency of our pilots," Teodoro told radio dzMM. He added that age of the aircraft and pilot error account for some accidents involving military helicopters.

The DND is rebidding a P1.2 billion helicopter supply contract after a previous winner of the deal failed to conform to the military's list of requirements. "The winning bidder did not conform to the specifications published in the circular of requirements regarding payload. should be able to lift 3,000 pounds but it could only lift 1,500 pounds," Teodoro said.

The defense chief said he has yet to receive a report from the panels investigating the canceled contract.

The DND Bids and Awards Committee was tasked to look into the liability of officials of Asian Aerospace Corp., which pre-qualified for the contract. Another panel headed by Defense Undersecretary Ariston delos Reyes would determine the accountability of military and DND officials involved in the procurement of the aircraft.

After canceling the bidding process for the P1.2-billion helicopters, the defense and military establishments would hold a combined procurement process for the same aircraft and add another P2 billion.

Air Force chief Lt. Gen. Pedrito Cadungog said with the additional budget, they hope to purchase 18 helicopters instead of six.

The DND has formed a new bids and awards committee to handle the procurement of the helicopters. With a report from The Philippine Star
