When one considers the amount of energy savings a tankless unit, or traditional tank style hot water supply then you want to pay attention to the efficiency rating of the unit of any brand in particular. In addition, you may want consider the initial costs of buying and installing a heating system water. It can run several thousand dollars to buy a rinnai tankless water heater and have it installed over a thousand (or less) for a traditional hot water tank.

There are other options you can consider if you are leaning toward sticking with a traditional water heater. Use solar panels as an energy source for a conventional water heater can save hundreds of dollars each year - and the cost of installing the panel (s) can pay for themselves within 5-7 years.

Every home is different when it comes to their hot water consumption. A combination of devices may be the solution for those trying to get the right fit. For example, installing water heaters points to use for sinks or showers that are most from the water tank or tankless unit can help reduce the amount of energy expended by carrying hot water from the extra distance.
