How to Make a Rechargeable Battery Pack

AA batteries are probably the most common PANASONIC EY9106 drill battery is use and power electrical items such as flashlights, radios, cameras and many children's toys. Each AA battery has an output of 1.5 volts so if you have an electrical item you want to power that requires a greater voltage, then make an AA battery pack by connecting the batteries in series. You can connect as many batteries as you need, but this article will tell you how to make a 4-cell battery pack providing an output of 6 volts.

Place the four AA batteries together. Ensure the battery terminals alternate so you have two positive (+) and two negative (-) terminals at each end. Wind tape securely around the four AA batteries to form a firm battery pack. Electrical insulating tape works fine. Label the batteries 1 through 4.

Cut five lengths of electrical wire. Two wires need to be long enough to reach the electrical item you want to power: the remaining three wires can be very short as they only connect between the DEWALT DC9096 tool batteries in your AA battery pack.

Strip a little under 1/4-inch of plastic from each end of every wire with a small knife or wire strippers. You need to do this 10 times.

Lay your AA battery pack on its side so you have two positive and two negative terminals to your right and left. The positive terminals of the batteries labeled "1" and "3" should be on your right.

Connect one of the long wires to the positive terminal of battery 1 (on your right). AA batteries do not generally have a fixing so use a small strip of electrical insulating tape to connect the wire to the terminal.

Connect the other long wire to the negative terminal of battery 4 (on the right) using the same method. Connect a small strip of wire to the negative terminal of battery 2 and the other end to the positive terminal of battery 3. Both terminals are on the right.

Connect a short piece of wire to the negative terminal of battery 1 then connect the other end to the positive terminal of battery 2. These terminals are on your left.

Connect the last piece of short wire to the negative terminal of battery 3 and the other end to the positive terminal of battery 4. The terminals are on your left.

If you want to make a larger AA battery pack with an output of 12 volts simply repeat the steps using eight batteries, ensuring you label all the batteries. Effectively you start with the positive terminal that connects to your electrical device, then you alternate negative to positive for each battery until you get to the end. The last wire on the negative terminal of your MAKITA 191679-9 battery pack connects to your device

Connect the long wire fixed to the positive terminal of battery 1 to the positive terminal of your electrical device. Connect the long wire fixed to the negative terminal of battery 4 to the negative terminal of your electrical device. You have made a 4-cell AA battery pack.
