.Cualquier planta de gran altura, con un eje principal con madera abundante, incluyendo muchas coníferas y plantas con flor
.Vegetal leñoso al menos de 5 m. de altura con el tallo simple, denominado tronco, hasta la llamada cruz, en donde se ramifica y forma la copa. Tiene considerable crecimiento en grosor. Se diferencia del arbusto en que suele ser más alto y no se ramifica hasta cierta altura.Planta perenne de tronco leñoso que se ramifica a cierta altura.
A estas definiciones habría que agregarles ...indispensables para la vida en nuestro planeta.
