PS3 3.55 to 3.41 Firmware can really Downgrade now

Few days ago, news that PS3 3.55 can downgrade to 3.41 here and there, last are all turned out to be fake news, however, it is once again give us a surprise that PS3 3.55 to 3.41 Firmware Downgrader arrived today courtesy of solidpsycho through a guide from AmazingLarry.

Here is quoted from psgroove: Here is a patched 3.41 that allows you to downgrade. I patched the info0 to 356, and I also used Warrens method to bypass the br drive during the update. I have tested this on both of my PS3's and haven't run into any problems.

3.55 Downgrade has been confirmed on both FAT and SLIM consoles.

Please note you CANNOT use these files if you bought a PS3 that came stock with FW 3.50. DO NOT DO IT. STOP NOW.

THE SAME WARNINGS AND RULES APPLY:

You may want to download geo's 3.55-jb and install that and blackb0x ftp if you have not, it will be very useful for the next bit.

If you have a fat PS3 with 256MB NAND you will need to back up your dev_flash folders, as you WILL LOSE BLURAY PLAYBACK. (on my FAT model i restored the DRL1 and DRL2 files in del_flash(2?) I did get to however keep all of my signed 3.55-jb homebrew, and it all works in retail mode except of course backup managers)

If you have a Small NAND SLIM or FAT console it would be a good idea to do one or both of the following:

In the XMB perform a system backup to save installed Homebrew you may have and gamesaves etc.. to an external device (i did this with my slim and it worked perfectly, all my installed signed homebrew from 3.55-jb works in retail 3.41 now)

-or-

make a COMPLETE backup of your PS3 game HDD on your ps3 using ftp, although i dont think installed packages can be moved back over simply by ftp. i only tested the first method.

And now to downgrade:

You will need a downgrader dongle, search the forums for a DIY or buy one ,for example :PS3 break V1.2 , E3 card reader,P3Go and so on. or get an android/iphone, or an ipod nano, etc...

1) Unplug or switch off your console and then switch back on or plug back in.

2) While still OFF connect your Jailbreak/Downgrade device and press POWER then quickly Eject, you PS3 console should turn itself off automatically

3) OPTIONAL - Turn your PS3 on to verify you are in Service Mode (you will see a big red box, you can't miss it) then turn your PS3 back OFF

4) Place the lv2diag.self (FILE 1) from the archive and the PS3UPDAT.PUP (3.41 FW) from the archive on the root of a usb device and plug into the rightmost port on your console (dev_usb0)

5) Power on your PS3 with the usb device in and have a coffee, it can take a few moments for the PUP to install, your PS3 will turn off automatically

NOTE: if your system seems unresponsive and the light just stays green for ten minutes or more you need to use a different usb stick. i've had sporadic results with several different sticks.

6) Power your ps3 back on, you should still be in service mode, check your FW version now to verify you have downgraded successfully. Turn Off

7) Remove previous archive files from usb stick and now place lv2diag.self (FILE 2) on the root of your usb stick

8) Place usb stick in rightmost port of your PS3 (dev_usb0)

9) Turn PS3 back on with usb in place, it should turn itself off very shortly after.

10) Turn your PS3 back on and go through the configuration again.

Update about European PSN Game Store

Ross McGrath, a member of the SCEE of the PlayStation Store Team, has published this weeks European PSN Game Store updates today,

Welcome back all, I hope everyone has been settling back into work okay and everyone's sticking to their New Year's resolutions!

Another fairly small update this week with a few highlights I wanted to point out. After last week's sudden removal from the schedule, the Angry Birds mini does finally make it onto the PSN Store this week, so make sure you give those pigs what for.

Also, we have a genuine PSone PS3 break V1.2 , ,Classic in the form of Tomb Raider Chronicles - yes, we now have the first and last games in the PSone Tomb Raider series… the middle ones are on their way soon too. And don't forget that this week we are providing you with the DC Universe Online subscriptions for one, three or six months of game time, so when your free month runs out we've got you covered.
Also a quick bit of service information for you:

• The final content list for the January Sales will go up in a separate blog post on Monday (like we did for the Christmas Sale). Not quite as much content in the second round but there are some great titles in there and I think you're all going to be very happy with the list. We also have some great Special Offers already scheduled for Q1 and more TBA.

• You Dutch speakers who have been confused by the info for all the Magic: The Gathering Duels of the Planeswalkers content being written in a strange tongue, rest assured that this is beingPS3 game HDD sorted on our end in conjunction with Wizards of the Coast.

Such a rumor that Sony to Remotely Disable JailBroken PS3s, PSN Ban.

Today JoyStiq (linked above) speculates that based on both a NeoGAF Tip by Mr_Brit and a Digital Foundry report Sony may be planning to remotely disable JailBroken PS3 consoles essentially banning them from PSN.

To quote: "Even if you've never signed up for a PSN account, your console will communicate with Sony servers every time it boots up.

That initial load process is used to upload error logs, download updates to the "What's New" module, and a list of recently-run applications, including any unauthorized backup manager software.

Sony has yet to ban any consoles for taking advantage of the jailbreak, but the terms and conditions of the PlayStation Network make it clear that Sony has the authority to carry them out.

Thanks to the system's constant self-reporting feature, "the company even has the means to irrevocably disable your console should it so wish," rendering affected PS3 consoles unusable, online and off. But will PS3 break Sony ever use such a drastic measure? And if so, how will the hacker scene retaliate?"

From NeoGAF, to quote: "On boot the system contacts the server and uploads the play list etc. this list alone is enough to get anyone that goes online banned as it shows the bootmanger etc. has been running. Here is the list and what they do, I port sniffed this a while ago before I went online with a retail unit >.> because I am not stupid 。

Almost all connections cannot just be port blocked, the port will continue to increment until it connects, you have to block the entire domains. Also a big point is that ALL computers on your network need to have these blocked not just the PS3's PS jailbreakMAC because if you are running a proxy for example to get patches, the computer you proxy to will just allow the connections right out to the open unless all local IPs are blocked from these sites as well.

Surprising absolutely noone it looks likeE3 card reader Sony are detecting homebrew applications meaning that everyone who went on PSN with a jailbroken console can expect to be banned eventually. This is definitely not the only way that Sony can detect jailbroken systems so we'll never truly ever know if it's going to be safe to go online. That ban may come tommorow or it may come in 6 months time but it will almost certainly eventually come."

The PlayStation Official iPhone / Android App is Now Available

Just under a month ago it was confirmed and today Portal Manager E3 card readerEmmanuel Orssaud has announced the PlayStation Official iPhone and Android application is now available for download.

Here is the quoted: Back in December, I announced that we at SCEE were working on a PlayStation App for iPhone and Android handsets.

I'm delighted today to let you know that the version 1.0 of the PlayStation Official App is now available to download for free from the App Store and Android Market.PS3 game HDD


The app is compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch with OS 4 and abovePS3 break V1.2, and most Android handsets with a minimum of OS 1.6.

Here's a recap of the features in version 1.0:

• Check out your PlayStation Network trophies and keep up to date with your friends' games and online status.
• Discover all the latest games, news and hardware for your PlayStation 3, PSP and PlayStation 2.
• Read all the announcements on the European PlayStation.Blog.
• Share your favourite products or news with your friends on Facebook, Twitter or via e-mail.

The first version (1.0) is available in the following countries: UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and The Netherlands.

We are already working on the next update and we are planning to roll-out the app in most of SCEE's markets very soon.
