If Costa Rica is known as the paradise on earth, what really embellishes its beauty is its coastline. Stretching from Puntarenas in the north to Quepos-Manuel Antonio in the south of this country, this has everything a tourist can imagine in the wildest of his dreams. It has a host of beaches, but the most popular one is undoubtedly the Jaco beach.

On this coastline are housed some of the most popular tourist destinations of the country. Surfing, resorts, international hotels, golf course, fishing and ships are just some of the sights that you can feast your eyes on. The Manuel Antonio National Park is less then a couple of hours from the capital.

What should really augment this set of stupendous attractions is something that will add a new face to the already long list of such spots: the highway that should come up in less than four years from now. This will be an ornament to the string of pearly roads from Jaco beach to San Jose, and would reduce the travel time between these two important points by as much as 50 percent. The groundwork for this project, the putting in place of five bridges, is already completed. The series of hotels along the coastline is intended to suit every purse. From the middle class hotels along the beaches of Hermosa, Esterillos, Bejuca and Palo Seco to the ultra deluxe resorts like Jaco Blu Private Residences.

Then there is the less crowded and less traveled-in town of Parrita, in which there are long lines of African palm estates; the stretch between Jaco and Quepos is home to unlimited entertainment of all sorts. More of America here, too this was where, in the 1950's, the makers of Chiquita used to grow their bananas that used to reach the American palate, but was destroyed by disease. A la Irish potato crisis; however, this was not so severe, and the private company shifted its entire line of business here. That's some history, isn't it?

But the icing on the cake is the area between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. With fishing being the main source of livelihood for Quepos, there is no dearth for mind-boggling sights, and of course, seafood of unlimited variety.

Hotels are aplenty; the Manuel Antonio National park never ceases to amaze. If you thought entertainment consisted of only shopping malls, think again. There are a lot of animals that entertain you as much! All this has been done keeping ecology in mind. The park is sprawling in itself; however, it also has a vast protected area running into thousands of acres. It comes with all the necessary packages that go into making your holiday an unforgettable one, being replete with scuba diving, waterfalls, hiking, wildlife and what not. Just what your doctor ordered!
