SIENA (Reuters) - Il ministro dell'Economia Vittorio Grilli ha incontrato ieri il presidente della Banca centrale europea Mario Draghi in vista dell'attesa audizione di oggi in Parlamento sullo scandalo dei prodotti strutturati del Monte dei Paschi che via Nazionale dice le sono stati occultati nella loro vera natura.
"Posso confermare che l'incontro è avvenuto", si è limitata a dire una portavoce della Bce.
Una seconda fonte a conoscenza dell'incontro ha detto a Reuters che l'incontro è avvenuto a Milano dove Draghi si trovava dalla settimana scorsa e che è probabile che si sia parlato anche dell'appuntamento parlamentare di oggi sulla vicenda Mps.
Prima dell'audizione, alle 10,30 Grilli riunisce il Comitato per la salvaguardia della stabilit finanziaria al quale partecipano il governatore Ignazio Visco e il presidente della Consob Giuseppe Vegas.
I contratti, che potrebbero comportare perdite fino a 720 milioni di euro e sui quali sta indagando anche la magistratura, sono stati effettuati dal precedente management della banca senese tra il 2006 e il 2009 quando a capo della Banca d'Italia era appunto Draghi, passato a Francoforte nel novembre del 2011.
Nel 2007 Monte dei Paschi aveva acquistato per circa 9 miliardi cash la Banca Antonveneta dal Santander che pochi mesi prima l'aveva pagata 6,6 miliardi di euro. L'operazione effettuata alla vigilia della crisi dei mutui sub-prime Usa ha da allora indebolito sempre più la posizione finanziaria della terza banca italiana.
La bufera è scoppiata la settimana scorsa quando i nuovi vertici del Monte hanno detto di aver ritrovato documenti contabilizzati in modo sbagliato.
Uno degli interrogativi riguarda anche l'efficacia dei controlli della Banca d'Italia a guida Draghi.
Ci si chiede perchè fu autorizzata un'acquisizione così onerosa, sulla quale la magistratura indaga anche per verificare se furono pagate tangenti. Draghi ha comunque insistito perchè Mps procedesse a un aumento di capitale e ha chiesto modifiche al contratto Fresh con cui Mps ha recuperato 1 miliardo. [ID:nL5N0AX59Z]
Da documenti visti da Reuters emerge che gi al termine dell'ispezione del 2010 erano emersi i contratti al centro delle indagini realizzati con la banca giapponese Nomura e Deutsche Bank e il dubbio che la struttura del Monte non fosse in grado di gestirli.
Venerdì scorso a Davos, in occasione del World Economic Forum Draghi non ha fatto commenti sulla vicenda mentre l'attuale governatore Ignazio Visco ha detto che la Banca d'Italia era a conoscenza dei contratti ma non della relazione tra loro che ha poi determinato le ingenti perdite.
Una fonte vicina alla vicenda ha detto ieri a Reuters che i documenti pubblicati finora non esauriscono l'attivit di vigilanza intercorsa tra Bankitalia e Mps dal 2010 in poi e che Grilli oggi aiuter a definire il quadro completo.
Ieri il presidente di Mps Alessandro Profumo ha difeso la Banca d'Italia sulla vicenda dell'acquisto di Antonveneta: "Non sta a Bankitalia dire se il prezzo è alto o basso, ma dire se c'è la capacit di sopportare dal punto di vista patrimoniale. Se c'è un errore di valutazione è di Mps".
Sempre sulle polemiche circa la congruit del prezzo pagato per Antonveneta ha poi aggiunto: "Certamente il prezzo era troppo alto, ma il problema è il pagamento per contanti. Usando le azioni si diluiscono gli azionisti, ma non si fa uscire capitale".
Azionista di maggioranza di Mps era all'epoca la Fondazione Monte dei Paschi che adesso rischia di dover rinunciare alla storica presenza nel capitale dell'istituto di credito più antico del mondo.
Profumo ha escluso comunque che la Banca possa essere commissariata.
"Penso che la banca non vada commissariata e che non sar commissariata", ha detto Profumo nel corso della presentazione di un libro a Roma.
Nel riconfermare la sua fiducia sull'attivit presente e passata di via Nazionale il presidente del Consiglio uscente Mario Monti ha detto ieri che sar Grilli a spiegare la posizione del governo sull'ipotesi di commissariamento.
Visco a Davos ha escluso iniziative della Banca d'Italia.
