The "outrage" Spanish reinvest the Puerta del Sol

Post n°53 pubblicato il 25 Luglio 2011 da twice1

Two months after their first events, "outraged" have taken possession for two days instead of the Puerta del Sol in Madrid, symbolic starting point of the movement came together Saturday in which six caravans came from all over Spain.

In the evening, thousands of protesters stormed again the Puerta del Sol, under a large banner bearing the words "Stop the New World Order" (Stop the new world order).

For a month, small groups equipped with camping gear have traveled hundreds of kilometers from Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia, Bilbao, Galicia and Extremadura, organizing popular assemblies in each village.

Executive Madrid, where the "outraged" have agreed to meet Saturday and Sunday to denounce once again the unemployed (21.29%), the excesses of capitalism, corruption, politicians accused of not representing the citizens.

"We are here to maintain the momentum of the movement," explained Ivan Gracia, a philosophy student of 24 years come to Zaragoza in the north, who was preparing to spend the night in the square.

Armed with hammers, planks and string, the protesters have drawn some stands on the Puerta del Sol, occupied from May 17 to June 12 in their tent camp and found the air for two days of camp festive and colorful.

"We are preparing to host the camp came from the stairs province. We install again the big kitchen, "proudly launched Rafael Rodriguez Ballesteros, 56, restaurateur unemployed for a month that has prepared thousands of meals for the occupants of the place.

"We came to show that the movement is not dead, despite the holidays."

At the same time, "marches indignant" reached the gates of Madrid, joined by residents of the neighborhoods of the capital.

Sunday, the "outraged" plan to show up to the Puerta del Sol, one month after their last major mobilization, June 19, which gathered more than 200,000 people all over Spain.

With broad popular support - two-thirds of Spaniards support it, according to opinion polls - the movement, unprecedented in Spain, took root across the country since mid-May

"In two months, we got some answers," noted Fernando Caras, anthropology student of 26 years.

"We have arrested some sixty evictions, created a social pressure, managed to mobilize more important than any other political party," noted the student, a member of the working group "politics."

In fact, the "outraged" took the habit of showing to prevent evictions of homeowners unable to meet their mortgages, one of the most explicit social impact of the economic crisis.

With a certain success as dozens of expulsions were at least delayed in recent weeks in Spain.

The government, embarrassed by the citizens' movement which combines the unemployed, workers, retirees and students, seemed to provide an initial response by announcing the first steps in July to assist over-indebted households.

And the Socialist candidate in the parliamentary elections of March 2012, Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba, said that reform of the electoral law, claimed by the "outrage" would be placed on its agenda.

But without convincing a movement that continues to denounce the "fracture" between citizens and politicians.

"In August, as it is the holidays, we will be quiet," explained Fernando Caras, "before mobilizing again in September and an international day 15 October."
