The security forces fired live bullets and used tear gas and water cannons to disperse hundreds of thousands of participants in a march from the Place of Change, the epicenter of the protest, to the street Al-Zubair, in the center of the capital, witnesses said.

The body of a protester shot in the head was taken to the field hospital established on the Place du Change, which were evacuated at least 90 injured, including 20 by gunfire, said a medical source, citing a preliminary assessment.

The bodies of five other protesters shot dead were evacuated to the hospital of Science and Technology in Sana'a, told AFP a medical source in the private clinic.

The other wounded evacuated in the two hospitals suffer particular respiratory problem after inhaling tear gas, they added.

Dozens injured, including at least 15 hit by bullets, were admitted to the clinic, the source said.

Earlier this afternoon, security forces surrounded tens of thousands of protesters on the street Al-Zubair and the adjacent streets, witnesses said.

The protesters were responding to a call of the organizing committee of young protesters in a march to the street Al-Zubair, which marks the boundary between the area of ​​the capital under control of the troops of dissident General Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar and the controlled by forces loyal to President Saleh.
