Roger Keith Barrett Lui coniò il nome dei Pink Floyd, dal nome dei suoi bluesman preferiti, Pink Anderson e Floyd Council. Lui fu il primo leader del gruppo, e il successo arrivò subito con i primi singoli (Arnold Layne, See Emily Play) e col primo album della band londinese, The Pipes at the gates of down. Ma la costante e massiccia assunzione di LSD portò Syd alla follia, e nel 68 Barrett lasciò il gruppo, sostituito da David Gilmour. Con Barrett se ne va uno dei geni più grandi della musica psichedelica, uno che in pochi anni di attività è riuscito a lasciare un segno storico nella musica mondiale.
