Usa estendono chiusura alcune ambasciate fino a 10 agosto
WASHINGTON/LONDRA (Reuters) - E' stata prolungata di una settimana, fino a sabato 10 agosto, la chiusura di alcune ambasciate e consolati statunitensi nei paesi islamici a titolo preventivo, di fronte a minacce di attacchi di al-Qaeda, considerate dai parlamentari come le più pericolose degli ultimi anni.
Il dipartimento di Stato ha indicato diciannove sedi di rappresentanza che rimarranno chiuse, mentre in altre capitali islamiche verranno prese precauzioni aggiuntive in vista della celebrazione di fine Ramadan.
Dopo l'annuncio da parte degli Stati Uniti, anche la Gran Bretagna oggi ha fatto sapere di avere esteso di altri due giorni - domani e mercoledì - la chiusura dell'ambasciata in Yemen, dove sono temporaneamente chiuse anche le ambasciate di Francia e Germania.
"Per timori legati alla sicurezza l'ambasciata britannica in Yemen rester chiusa sino alla fine dell'Eid", ha detto oggi la portavoce del Foreign Office, riferendosi alla festa di conclusione del mese santo degli islamici, che si conclude mercoledì.
Oggi riaprono intanto i battenti le sedi diplomatiche Usa di Kabul, Baghdad e Algeri.
Alla lista delle rappresentanze che rimarranno chiuse fino a sabato prossimo sono state aggiunte le capitali di Madagascar, Burundi, Ruanda e Mauritius.
