Paulson, manager dell'hedge fund Paulson & Co., che ha promesso di regalare 100 milioni di dollari all'organizzazione privata che gestisce l'area verde di New York. Secondo Paulson, Central Park è la più democratica di tutte le istituzioni culturali della citt statunitense e dalla sua donazione trarranno beneficio tutti gli abitanti. Il sindaco Michael Bloomberg ha accolto con gioia la notizia, spiegando che l'enorme regalo del multimiliardario servir a garantire che il parco resti un'oasi di pace. 56 anni, Poulson è fondatore e presidente della societ , definita nel 2011 il quarto hedge fund più grande al mondo.
