Rebaelliun

La nota storia dei quattro musicisti brasiliani, che vendettero tutto quello che avevano nella loro terra natia per trasferirsi in Europa e cominciare una fortunata carriera nel mondo Death Metal è solo l’inizio della saga….

Fin dal marzo del ’98, quando i Rebaelliun nacquero a Porto Alegre, una delle maggiori città brasiliane, Marcello Marzari, Fabiano Penna, Ronaldo Lima e Sandro Moreira avevano già pianificato il loro primo “assalto” ai territori europei. Nel novembre del ’98 la band registrò due tracce per l’ormai famosissimo “Promo-Tape ‘98” e con queste registrazioni nei bagagli i Rebaelliun si trasferirono in Belgio poche settimane dopo. Fu il loro primo tour in assoluto e l’inizio di una brillante carriera, 19 tappe in tre nazioni (Belgio, Olanda e Germania), due volte gruppo spalla dei Deicide, mostrando una performance potente ed infernale, che li aiutò a raggiungere un accordo con la emergente casa discografica olandese, la Hammerheart Records, nel febbraio del ’99.
Alcuni mesi dopo, il Promo Tape veniva pubblicato dalla Hammerheart come un singolo con il nome di “At War”, che diffuse il nome dei Rebaelliun nella scena underground prima dell’uscita del loro primo full-lenght album “Burn The Promised Land”, che fu registrato in Brasile nella seconda metà del ’99 e pubblicato a novembre dello stesso anno in Europa. Grazie all’ottima risposta dei fans e della stampa all’album, i Rebaelliun partirono con un altro tour in Europa dal gennaio al marzo 2000, suonando con bande del calibro dei Limbonic Art ed Ancient.

Alla fine del tour Ronaldo Lima lasciò la band. Come trio, i Rebaelliun registrarono del nuovo materiale nell’aprile 2000, tre nuove canzoni ed una cover dei Morbid Angels, “Day of Suffering” per il mini Cd “Bringer of War”. Per promuovere questo nuovo mini album nel giugno 2000, i Rebaelliun tornarono in Europa per un nuovo tour, questa volta 27 tappe in più di 15 paesi, suonando con band come i Vader o i Cannibal Corpse. Tornati in Brasile, anche Marcello Marzari decise di lasciare il gruppo, causando al gruppo il momento più brutto della propria carriera, costringendo i due membri rimasti a cercare ovunque per trovare dei sostituti.

Con grande sorpresa Ronaldo Lima decise di tornare ai Rebaelliun poco dopo l’abbandono di Marcello, e con lui venne Lohy Fabiano che aveva già in passato suonato con alcuni membri del gruppo. Con questo line-up ricominciarono a produrre nuovo materiale e tra il febbraio ed il marzo del 2001 la band visse in Germania per registrare il nuovo album negli Stage One Studio con il produttore Andy Classen. “Annihilation” è probabilmente il migliore mai prodotto dalla band, più veloce ed estremo dei suoi processori, ma anche più tecnico e con una migliore produzione. Per promuovere il nuovo album , che ancora una volta scatenerà un terremoto nella scena Death, i Rebaelliun hanno dato via al loro primo tour mondiale, suonando parecchie volte in Brasile, incluso un mini tour con gli Incantation, e progettano di continuarlo in Europa e nel Nord America.
